Having tattoos as a nurse

Published

Hello everyone ♡

I am getting ready for nursing school and have a new tattoo that is visible through the fabric of my scrub top. The color is white and the brand is meridys. The fabric is stiff but I'm just assuming that will change with time since it's brand new. I have a bit of a sweating problem in the underarms regardless of the weather. Its worse when I wear shirts that are tight under the armpits. So my question is, how do you all out there who struggle with this issue deal? I've tried clinical strength and baby powder...Neither helped so I would like to find some kind of thing shirt brand that wouldn't be too fitted and still covered what is necessary. I might only need to by cover sleeves but it is still slightly visible through the shirt so I guess that is depending on who I have for my clinical instructor. Thanks for the help!!!

You can try a loose-fitting shirt underneath. Is it on your back? If so, you can just wear a tank top!

I also struggle with underarm sweating (constantly and often for no reason!). I have yet to find a solution so I've been considering speaking to a dermatologist about potentially having hyperhidrosis and seeing if they can prescribe something. But if you find something that works, let me know!

I have yet to find a solid solution to the seating issue. But they never seemed to notice the linework of my tattoos which are all on the left shoulder. I wore a loose fit longsleeve bc now I have 3 tattoos there that cover 75% from shoulder to just above the wrist. I dont plan to have much more done, but the loose long sleeve does help hide it in my scrubs. What sucks is that no matter what, if I want to work in pediatrics at CHOA, I will never be assigned to a child with a PICC line. I never knew it would come to that or I would've changed my choices in tattoo placement. Either way, I am glad having tattoos has not impeded my progress and employability.

Let me know if you have spoken to that dermatologist yet!

Thanks!

Use the deodorant called "certain dri". You will notice instant results!!!
