I received my *IP together with a card from BON NEVADA today (06/12/08) which has an expiration of 3 mos only (o5/19/08). Im here in the Philippines with no VISA and Plane ticket whatsoever to US, because I am just planning to take the NCLEX exam here in Manila, then the IELTS, and process the visa screen here and pray for the retrogression to lift. BTW, I did not apply my IP, I am just applying for my eligibility just to able to have a seat in the NCLEX exam. But luckily (I don't know if you can call it lucky), the BON in nevada automatically gives IP to a newly examinees...
QUESTION: Does IP mean, I may able to go to the US using I-dunno-what-type-of VISA and be able to take the exam there (Nevada) while enjoying working to a Nevada hospital for 3 months using my IP?
(1) Yes, because I still have my IP, and my IP is so powerful enough to fly me to Nevada and be able take the exam there while working for 3 mos.
(2) No, because I have no Visa and the villain retrogression is still holding my foot off the ground. And my IP is just so noob.
(3) case to case basis, and pray for a miracle to happen
(4) None of the above

IP does not give you permission to stay and work in the US. May as well concentrate in taking the exam in your home country along with all other stuff and wait for retrogression to move forward.

Does not make any difference if they have sent you the interim permit, the fact remains that you cannot use it as you must actually take and write the NCLEX-RN exam to be able to get a visa for the US.
The IP does not give one permission to work in the US, suspect that this was sent by accident to you. You do not have any documents that you can work legally here so you will not be able to get an employer to hire you nor get permission to fly to the US to sit for the exam.
Retrogression is not going to be ending anytime soon. Demand far exceeds supply for green cards. There are no miracles, you cannot work with an interim permit in any state if you do not have the legal document to work in the US behind you.
so my IP card will just going to be a decoration in my wallet then? But why are they given such IP with no use at all?
Probably a mistake

I agree, It was just probably a mistake. You normally would apply for it and pay a certain amount to get an IP.
Yes, it does not make any difference if you have the IP. No visas this time so no job for you in the US. Try to apply in other countries to get more experience. If you do not have any get one locally. The more experience you have the better advantage you have for employement here in the US in the future (once visas will be available again). Don't ever lose hope or let anybody discourage you.
