hi guys, I was just wondering your thoughts on the hardest ABSN program to get into in the NJ area? From what I could tell I thought it was Rutgers because of the reputation, small class size, and low tuition. Are Seton Hall or NYU harder to get into? I didn't think so because fewer people can afford to pay that tuition therefore less people can realistically apply? Is this not the case?

From what I hear, Rutgers is pretty competitive. I'm not sure about Seton Hall or NYU, but some of the schools in Philly may be just as hard or harder to get into. Of course, you might not consider that to be in your area, depending on where you live (I live in Cherry Hill). I only applied to an ABSN program at Jefferson in Philly and was told they had 500-600 applications for 48 open spots. But then you have to think about how many of those applications were actually from "serious" applicants, so I'm not sure how competitive that makes the school. I did get in, so that's all I really care about! :-)

Seton hall accepts between 90-110 students each graduating class I'm not sure how many apply but if you have at least a 3.0 GPA you have about a 75% chance of getting in the program

I would say Rutgers as in-state. You need at least a 3.3 undergrad GPA to apply and that is the minimum. It has a 10% acceptance rate. I spoke with the dean and there is a 100% employment rate post-graduation and NCLEX pass rate is 99.7%. I'm not sure what the rates are for other schools, but from the numbers I can tell Rutgers is pretty competitive.
