Had a good interview but....

Nurses New Nurse

Looking for some insight. I went on an interview this past week and it went really well. It was for a new grad position on a medical oncology unit. I felt like the nursing director of the floor really liked me and she said so. She said I would be an excellent fit and that she would like to hire me, but she said according to hospital policy she has to interview all the other candidates that have been called for an interview for this position. She also informed me that I would not be notified for 1-2 weeks if I got the position. What do you guys think? I really hope I got the position and she did say she would hire me on the spot, but that is not hospital policy and that HR has to make all offers. My worry is that she'll forget about me in 1-2 weeks and hire a different candidate.

you DID send her an email to thank her for the opportunity to meet her and see the unit right? If not, do so ...if you're worried she may have forgotten you it will help her remember you.

About a week after your interview, send a formal thank you to her...check out some templates to get an idea of what to write if you are unsure. The last interview I went on I emailed a quick note via email when I got home then sent an official letter thanking for the opportunity blah blah blah via postal mail to arrive about a week after. It seemed redundant to me but the class I went to said to do it and it either worked or the person who interviewed me just really liked me the most out of the 15 interviews.

I've been there, done that, got the T-shirt but not the job :( I'm sorry to be a downer, but it is a possibilty you should be prepared for.

You sent the thank-you note (very good!) so you've done all you can do for now...maybe give her a follow-up call in a week to see if there's any additional information she needs as well as to remind her of your existence.

I wish you the best of luck--hopefully, you'll have better luck than I did! :)
