Wow! I'd consider it a success that you survived that interview! The interviewer sounds completely unprofessional and rude. I can't imagine even the most prepared person having a good experience with that!
My mind would go to-what type of program is this if this is how they are representing themselves? I'd be asking HER some questions-and the first one would be related to whether she teaches any of my classes. It's so important to have at least a tolerable learning environment-NS is tough enough as it is.
Sorry about your experience-when you get in NS you'll see likely in clinical that you'll need to overlook some bad behavior and not take it personally. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU! That said, I still try to set myself up to be around positive people. If there are other nursing schools in your area, I'd definitely check them out.
Just curious, what reason did you give her that you wanted to go into nursing? Do you have a primary care provider? If so, you might be able to explain your short deadline and get a physical. Or you could go to an open door clinic, you may have to wait a long time in the waiting room but it may be worth it. Can you find out what this interviewers position is in the program? Her behavior sounds uncalled for and probably needs to be reported....if she represents what the program is going to be like you might consider looking into different schools.......
We had to have a lot of stuff done for the application that was really expensive and if not, we didn't get to interview or get accepted. I don't think that part was rude or obnoxious. If they cannot count on you to get your paperwork in on time, why waste a slot on you? I mean, are you going to turn in assignments on time? Will you be on time? I can totally understand that part. We were also told that it was very expensive and very hard to hold a job while in the program, but possible. We were told to be prepared for the financial responsibility. I get that, but asking you about your mother doesn't sound very professional. However, if you cannot pay for it, then again, why waste a slot on you? I'm already out quite a bit for a physical, tests required for the physical, the tests to get placed in the program, vaccinations, and a dental exam and we don't start until the 30th. The facts aren't pretty and cannot be sugar coated. Also, I have no clue what answer you offered for the question. She may have been rude, but a lot of what you describe sounds like she is just doing her job.
Well my response for why do I want to become a nurse was because I was born with some medical issues due to my premature birth and I want to help other people in similar situations. After that response is when she said that wasn't a good enough reason. yeah and I did take my physical today and that went ok, but I have to pay 45 dollars and give her the rest of the medical records before she'll release my information

hi stephanie,
your reasons for wanting to be a nurse seems very much valid.
i am sorry that the interviewer was quite rude, and a bit out there.
at my school (it's a private lvn school costs $25k) they are already interviewing students that don't even have all their paperwork in order (application forms, enrollment agreement, installment agreement, transcripts, photocopy of your id & ssn, physical tests, their entrance exam results, behavioral contract, etc...) luckily for me i had them all! they are only allowed to accept 45 students this term, but even that number is too high so they are only pushing for 35 students.
they just want to see how far along you are with the paperwork, and if you truly are a serious candidate for the program (it's only 1 year)
anyhow, you should notify the director of the program and let him or her know how your experience went. i think you were treated unfairly, and you deserve another chance-maybe not at this institution but at a more desirable/reputable one!
good luck to you.

Hello ,
My name is Stephanie and I went for an interview at UDC and the interviewer had me waiting for an hour and then I went in and sat down, she didn't even shake my hand. I gave her my information she asked me why I want to be a nurse and I told her and this was her response " that's not a real reason." and I didn't have all my paper work and she asked me how i would pay for it and I told her and she said that it was expensive and does my mother have that type of money. Also apparently you have to have everything in by Wednesday and they only allow 105 students into the program, and the committee will decide. I didin't have my physical done yet due to babysitting my brother I explained that to her and she was just so rude and obnoxious and now I'm scared I blew my interview, not sure what to do.
I really want to become a nurse and this is the most reasonable LPN Program I could find .
Need Some Advice or Pointers:
