HAAD RN exam tips

Anyone here who just took the exam? Any topics from the exam and your study materials? Thanks

Greetings!

When you registered for HAAD, did they ask for your employment papers?

How about during the exam? Did they looked for any employment certificates?

I don't have any staff nurse credentials. Hope you can answer my question.

Thank you.

almost everybody can easily take the exam, the application is easy. You just have to upload in an online application some of the required document such as WORK EXPERIENCE; at least 2years in MS for RN's; obtaining the DATAFLOW after passing the exam would be a different case though.. during dataflow process they will VERIFY your submitted docu's.

you can start by reviewing books like Saunders, or GAPUZ's ABC's of passing foreign Nursing exams..

no particular book for HAAD, 150 questions in 3 hours, computer based, and result will come out right after you're done.

sample questions that I encountered last year were about meds (AMitryptilline, Vancomycin, Cephalosporin, Glybencide,

Pilocarpine, Biphosponate, inotropic meds) and MedSurg questions ( pancreatitis, burn, hemicolectomy, hyperpituitarism, hypo vs hyperglycemia,)

OBG ( placenta vs abruptio, Rh incompatibility) Infxn Control ( Transmission Based precaution) Nsg Jurisprudence, Leadership & Management,

and so on...

I took the exam this month but unfortunately i failed. Actually all the examinees that day didnt passed, some of them were nclex passers. There were questions abt normal values, thats the easy part. Some questions were tricky youll find it hard to answer even if you reviewed abt it. So if i were you, better schedule your study time.. I left my job for me to have a lot of time to review, now i know how the test go and its style. My reference is saunders, but i failed. Im just gonna take it again and hopefully will pass..

Same fate happened to some nurses that I know, they have nclex and CG but they failed the HAAD exam. It's reaally frustrating to them

From what I encountered during the exam, the questions were a pretty mix of tricky and straightforward questions; leaving you with two options that are easy to eliminate, and another two to decided which is which. There were also some options that do not say directly the meaning (meaning you know what the answer is, only reworded), but it is the same otherwise.

My references for review are Gapuz's ABCs and Lippincott, and another Med-Surg Q&A. The process of elimination really helped a lot in limiting the choices to come up with the best possible answer. You don't need a review center to pass (just in case you're thinking about it) the exam, as they charge a very expensive review fee ranging from 10k-20k Php.

You can do it yourself and all you have to do is focus. What I did when doing the practice tests was to write down any unfamiliar term (whether a disease, a nursing management or medication) that I encounter and tried to look for them after finishing the practice test. After that, I made notes about those unfamiliar terms on the side of my answer sheet so that I can go back to them later for quick reference.

Last but definitely not the least, I asked guidance from the Divine One to prepare me for whatever the result may be. A mindset that "All things will come in His perfect time" really made me relax and not worry during the exam.
