Guidance needed

Published

Hello everyone!

I am on a dependent visa(h4) from Illinois. As I am a healthcare professional from my native country India, I am willing to work in a healthcare field. I am preparing for getting a accelerated BSN course now. I would appreciate any help or guidance related to the nursing field, as I am a mother now is it worth spending lots of time in doing the coursework? What are the work related experiences and pros and cons of nursing? What is the average pay scale in Chicago for nurses?

Thank you!

Unless they have changed the rules, I believe that h4 visa does NOT permit you to work in the USA. So unless your immigration status changes, you would be obtaining an education, but unable to work as a nurse. Seems like a lot of effort and expense for such an uncertain outcome.

Thnks a lot for replying...I know I can't work, but after taking so much education back in India, it is difficult for me to be a housewife, hence I thought I can take the nursing degree..and even if I go back to my country back I can use my degree there to get a job. R u working as a nurse?

There is no reason not to look into schools in the US while you are here. I say go for it!

The pay scale won't matter because you cannot work on your VISA. nurses the US job market is very tight right now. Finding sponsorship will be highly unlikely. RNs in the city start around $30.00/hr

Do you know anything about nursing education in the US for nursing? What is your healthcare experience?

Just make sure you can attend school, some dependent visa's require a change of status to a student visa to attend school. Check with the school office for international students to be certain.

I m on same track, I was engineer in India, but now I m going to be Nurse here. I finish all my pre's now waiting for admission email. My advise is that apply for RN first then RN to BSN online is 1 year course.

you can apply to Triton college, They are accepting the international students. I m American Indian if you need help let me know

Online will not qualify for a student visa if you require one

Thanks for replying! How do u plan to get an RN licnense? U will have to get into a nursing program..so the first step is to complete the pre req and then apply for a associate or a BSN program..its better to take an admission for BSN! Are you on a visa?

I m citizen here

I finish all my pre reqs, I m applying for RN now

Which program and which college?
