GUH Residency Programs

I just wanted to ping the waters. I'm interested in applying to one of Georgetown's nurse residency programs; is anyone in a GUH program now or recently, have you gone through one? If so, any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Hi

I am not yet a member of GHUs nursing staff however, I will be on Feb and am looking forward to it. I had four job offers and GHU was the most comprehensive and had higher standards then many of the other hospitals in the area. I had clinicals at most of the other hospitals and found GHU to be the best for me, as I am a stickler for things like hand washing and critical thinking. Also I want to be involved in research and that will be more accesible at GHU.

Is anyone else on this board attending Georgetown's Open House in February?

I am attending the Open House.

Hi All:)

First I would like to wish everyone attending the open house in Feb good luck. I found that GHU interview was the most laid back interview I had, but I think it depends on the Nurse Manager and Recruiter. I was asked a lot of the standard questions like "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" "Why do you want to work at GHU?" "What will you bring to GHU?" "Tell me about yourself?" "What is your experience in the nursing clinicals?" At other interviews I had to also answer senario questions, like what would you do if.... these included identifying the tumbstone EKG and giving a quick answer to what do you do if you see it. Also if pt is demonstrating hypo/hyper glycemia what do you do as a nurse. Often the questions change depending on the area you are applying to as ED is a bit of a different world than Telly. Good luck and hopefully I will be seeing you all on the floor. I used this link to prepare it includes information specific to resumes, cover letters and interviews for new RN grads http://www.son.jhmi.edu/resources/career/center/resources/
