GPC Nursing Program - Fall 2015

Hello All,

I see that there is not a current thread for GPC. I just received an acceptance letter yesterday and I am ecstatic! I have applied to the program twice before and was denied, so imagine my surprise when I opened my mailbox. Can't wait to get started.

I was wondering if anyone else has received any news.

I can honestly say that some weeks you're so busy with school that you almost forget the workd around you! Now that I'm in 2nd semester the first seemed like a breeze, and I know it just gets harder!

You definitely need good organizational skills, time management, and self motivation (I have very little of any of those lol) There has been a few tests that have been borderline for me, all because I slacked! It's very easy to fall off track but, with only 6 exams and a final as your only grade you really have to focus and apply!

Oh, one of the best pieces of advice I can give is to take dosage calculations over the summer! If you aren't seriously brushed up on math then it'll be great! I'm very good at math but I believe I would have been lost had I not taken it the summer before classes started!

You will have a math test at the beginning of every semester and you must make a 100, or you get withdrawn from the program! It's show your work and no multiple choice! We lost 2 from 1st semesters test and just recently 3 from 2nd semesters one! The test does not count as a grade and you do get three attempts, but trust me you do not want to have it hanging over your head waiting to take the next one!

Woah haha, that sounds a bit scary..So you took the dosage calculation at gpc? So be organized, do not procrastinate and keep the spirit alive..I need to work on all of those. The thing is I haven't taken choices for life, work processing and Research Skills, and American Government so I also have to take those in the summer before classes start :0

3 day event put on by the nursing department to prepare the entering class for the program. It consist of seminars, special guest, and current students.

Thanks CNA! Is that something that we register for?
