Has anyone ever ordered any books from half.com?

My uniforms came in very quickly! Wasnt even a week from when I ordered them and they were in the mail!

@mangopeach...Congratulations! :yelclap: If you don't mind me asking, how many people did you start out with and how many ended up completing the nursing program/graduating with you?

What study materials are you planning to use to study for the NCLEX? Good luck on that monster of a test and keep us posted!

Thank you lovleeme.

I already passed NCLEX. Graduated May 4th and took it June 21.

In all honesty, I did a lot of procrastinating and ended up only "studying" for a little over 2 weeks before the exam. I used Saunders Comprehensive, I used it all through school so I highly recommend it. Since I was already using it, I didn't have to read it cover to cover. Just brushed up on a few things. I mostly used Saunders Q&A for practice questions since I had pretty much done all the questions in the comprehensive all through school. Also went over the study guide floating around on all nurses. It has some useful mnemonics for infection control.

I was in the Spring 2011 class. They've gotten rid of Spring admissions but the Spring class went through the summer and in the fall was combined with the Fall class that started before us. So May graduation was a combination of the Spring 2011 class and Fall 2010 class. Total of about 140 I think. Our Spring class started with about 72 students. I think we lost around 17 people from that original Spring class. For various reasons. 3 people quit. 1 was dismissed for academic dishonesty. 1 left because she had to move. 3 people completely failed out after failing 2 courses. Some of the others are now a semester behind after being readmitted after failing 1 course.

Bearcat,Did your books come as they were described on the site? Thank you for the info lovleeme and Mangopeach.

I have bought and sold books on half.com. It's EBay for books, so look at the ratings of the sellers. You can use PayPal with half.com on most transactions. Ask the seller to ship thru the regular post office using media mail, which is a cheaper option for students.

I ordered my uniforms on a Thursday and received them on a Tuesday.

@mangopeach - Congratulations on passing your NCLEX! That is awesome news! Also, thank you for sharing what you used to study for it! This is valuable information.

So it sounds like most of your class made it through, with the exception of a few. That is also good news :)

I'm planning on applying for the 2013 program and I was considering retaking one or two of my bio classes but the lady I spoke to with the nursing department recommended I don't. I have a 3.0 for my science GPA and i'm just really worried that won't be good enough! Can anyone who has been accepted tell me what your science GPA was? I'm just so nervous i'm not going to make it! I applied twice to Athens tech and was not accepted either time :(

Hi Peachmango I agree that getting the Saunders Comprehensive is a good idea too. I'm going into my last semester and I never ever used my text book to study for the test. I only use my power points and the SC and I'm passing my classes.

Its been the best $50.00 I've ever spent.

If I where you I wouldnt retake it bc they look at # of repeat coorifices and plus I know students that where admitted that recieved a C in one of their A&P's. You are fine with a 3.0:)

Hi guys!!! I just created an account specifically for this thread! I was accepted into GPC's nursing program for 2012, and I can honestly say my heart is about to explode! I really am looking to make a study group, as I think that would be extremely beneficial to our success in this program! anyone that would like to meet up at bootcamp or the first day of class let me know! we are in this together!

:)
