Do nursing schools just look at your GPA in pre-reqs or all the classes you have taken in college?

I would assume total GPA since that is a reflection of your schooling. However, I could be wrong. The best thing to do would be to ask the school you are applying for; simply call up the Nursing school Admissions office and ask, they should be able to help.

Each nursing program will have their own policies. Best to check with each one.

Some schools will examine your cumulative GPA, degree GPA, or just the last 60 semester (or 90 quarter units) taken under your previous BA/BS degree. Many times, they will then extract your pre-req GPA (or core sciences) and calculate that separately.
Please take the the advice of the posters above and check with each individual school, confirm this with an admissions director and I would also recommend getting it in writing (e.g. written policy or email reply).
Good luck!

It depends on the school. My school evaluates both as well as the College Algebra grade and other avanced sciences or mathematics grades in courses that were not required if you take any. I would ask an academic advisor at the schools you are considering applying to for more info.

My school grades the science courses and the gpa. Hope that helps. Like the previous poster stated "each nursing program will have their own policies."

At Ivy Tech Bloomington you need a 4.0 on your pre-req's and a high 80/low 90 on the TEAS to even have a shot at the RN program.

The CC I am attending only bases GPA off of the pre-requisite classes that are required for the nursing program. That is nice since some of us started out college with a desire to party more than go to class and that stuff never comes off of your transcripts!
