I know lots of people who got in who where not as qualified. In fact I don't know anyone who applied and didn't get accepted to at least one school on their first of second attempt. 4-8 people a year go to CRNA school from my unit. Some of them are not very good nurses. I also know that none of them get very good letters of reference from our nurse manager as she is very hostile towards CRNA applicants and I have read several of the letters she has written.

Stats look good enough to get you an interview. The interview is really what is going to determine if you get in or not.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently working on my GRE coz I 'll be taking it next week though not all of the schools that I'm interested to apply are not requiring it. I just want to make my application stand out for this particular school have so many applicants (500 a year) and yet only gets 15-20 students to enroll.

Stats look good. I'm in the same boat as you at the moment trying to build the confidence to apply for CRNA school. I just took the GRE last thursday. If you study you will be fine. Focus more on the math portion than the verbal portion would be my advice. Don't be nervous. Good luck!

*** St.Marys, U of MN, MSA (Minneapolis School if Anesthesia), UW La Crosse, Rush, Franklin something or anther in IL, Mt.St.Marty in SD and some others in Pennsylvania and Florida.

I used to think that those who went to CRNA school were the high speed - low drag super knowledgeable and aggressive ICU nurses. Now I know better. Some certainly are like that but many are not. I will give one example I will call Jane. Jane came to our SICU through the 9 month Critical Care Nurse Residency program as a new grad. She always picked the real easy gomers, often refused to carry the code, trauma & rapid response pagers, refused to attend the two week open heart orientation until she had been in the unit for a year while the rest of those who were in her residency class started taking open heart 5 months out of the residency. Don't get me wrong, she was a nice girl and a good team player always willing to help her fellow nurses out when they needed it. She applied to CRNA school after being in the ICU for a year and was accepted to St.Marys in Minneapolis. The day she got the acceptance letter she gave notice in the ICU and went to PACU. She was never considered a strong nurse and refused to ever take any challenging patients.

She graduated recently and from what I hear in a very good anesthetist. I take report from her sometimes and her patient alwasys do well.
