Going to school full time, commuting, and working as a CNA?

Is it a good idea?

I attend college full-time (12 credits, although I wonder if I can do 15?) and I've decided to commute this year. My commute is about 1.5 hours to and 1.5 hours back by train, and my classes are scheduled on MWF.

I also want to work part-time as a CNA, and by part time, I mean nothing over 20 hrs/week. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with going to college full time and working part time as a CNA, and give some advice!

    I worked full time and went to nursing school full time. Not a problem. You can do it, but you need to be committed to it.

    I just started nursing school for my bsn and I work per diem as a cna. I was sooo nervous about not being able to work as much as I always have, but my job is very flexible. I can do only a couple hours on any shift whenever I wish. I work day shift on weekends and do a couple hours during the week as my schedule permits. It is doable as long as I keep up on my studies. See if you can work on a per diem basis. I am glad that someone is in the same situation as me. Good luck

    I did not have that long commute, only about 15 minutes, but my first year at college I took 21 credit hours and worked 24 hours a week. You can do it. That 1.5H on the train will be a good time to read or rethink through what you learned today.

    I went to school full time (A&P 1, Sociology, Psychology, Nutrition), worked full time, and drove about an hour to school. Made 2 B's and 2 A's, it can be done just be committed to it. Personally, working as a CNA gives me the drive to become a nurse. I don't want to do it forever, but I do enjoy working with the patients.
