going back to nursing 1

has anyone here failed the first semester of nursing school and gone back? what was it like? looks like thats what i will be doing next fall. =[

Why waiting until Fall?

I passed level one on my first try, but I have a friend who did not. At our school when I started if you did not have a 77 at mid-term they kicked you out of the program... He didn't make it, but came right back in and repeated and did much better the second time around. I had to repeat med/surg 1 (second level) I felt like I learned a lot better the second time around and hope I am a better nurse for it.

Nursing school is tough. The class graduating right now at my school started with 118 people and are only graduating 27 who started with that class.

i know a handful of friends that didn't make it out of fundamentals. they all are planning to do what you are doing, they will be repeating fundamentals next fall.

one guy in my class was doing fundamentals for his second time this semester. during the year he had off, he got his cna license and worked in a hospital. he said that it gave him great patient care experience and really improved his performance this time around.

good luck, this year will fly by :)

When I was in school, before I took my leave when my son was born, we had quite a few in class who were repeating for the 2nd time. With my class there were also others that had to go back the next fall and repeat fund again. Some missed by 1/2 pt some by a whole test grade.

I am sure time will fly by for you and that you will do much better the second time around.

I failed the first semester of school by 21 pts. And boy was I mad :angryfire

Felt sorry for a little bit, tried to re-take the course I failed. Nope- had to start all over again with Fundamentals- even though I passed that class (Pharmacology was the one I failed).

I re-applied at another school and got in. I could have re-applied at the school I was currently at (and gotten in- you are allowed 1 fail), but I wasn't really crazy about the amount of clinical time (I didn't think it was enough). And I would have had to wait anyhow. And I PASSED Fundamentals this time. By only a few points- but it was a PASS. I got more out of clinical this time around too.

The only really annoying thing is that my original class graduates tomorrow night. And now I don't graduate until May 2011 :o
