Can we talk about Gnosis and how to get through it with a good grade? I find many of the scenarios asking the nurse to make decisions normally made by the MD. Looking for study recommendations and hints ect specifically for the hypertensive disorders module i have done the pearls) thanks

It seems that when my institution required these trainings, we had an opportunity to go back, review and update our answers. It was a learning process. Also, Gnosis identified areas where we needed more review and pointed us in that direction.

Maybe I'm thinking of a different program - but what I remember is that it was not about acheiving a grade, but about learning current best practices, and reviewing and updating our knowledge base.

A lot of facilities use it to demonstrate ongoing competencies for OB staff, which is required by TJC. It's easy because all the really pertinent competencies are covered by the modules, and it allows for gauging where a nurse's weak areas of knowledge are, and then tailoring their education to those areas.

I looked into it for our hospital, but it's hella expensive ($16,000/year). We just don't have enough in our education budget for that, so we will continue to do EFM competency and then do an annual "skills day" for the others.

For hypertensive emergencies of pregnancy, I would also recommend looking at the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative, they've got some great stuff. Actually, that website also thoroughly addresses PPH as well.
