I am an LPN student about to graduate in two weeks. I have an assignment where I have to create a 12 page nursing philosophy and I have to include my thoughts on global nursing. I am a bit confused about what global nursing is, and how it can relate to a practical nurse.

Any input?

Thanks!:nurse:

I'm confused as to why they have you doing such a project.

Hello,

Well, global nursing a very important issue these days. I do not want to spoil or ruin your opporturnity of finding the answers. I can give you a huge hint ....look at the nursing shortage in the USA and what is being done to meet the demand. In addition, here is a link to one of my favorite search engine..... http://www.answers.com

Have you search the internet and the library?

Good Luck.

To get the student to think and to research the literature/internet. It is a great assignment for her. She will do well with the assignment.

I'm wondering why a 12 page paper on creating a nursing philosophy in an LPN program

My goodness, so am I!! It seems that when you are about to graduate, they place the most ridiculous subjects in your lap, when the real issue is med-surg.

I searched the internet, but what I seem to be having trouble with is how it is relevant to a practical nurse, when the issue seems to be addressing registered nurses. I am an empathetic person, but it does not seem that I can do anything about this issue at this moment from the level of nursing I am entering. Well, I will look some more, and see if it makes any sense.

Thanks, everyone for your advice. I think that I found some input about global nursing that I can use, thanks to your help. I still don't see the relevance of how it affects practical nursing, per se, but I think that I will add to my nursing phliosophy (another thing that makes no sense-12 pages!!) that the decrease in registered nursing worldwide may increase or expand the role of the practical nurses if the role of the RN has not been adequately addressed, and the disadvantage is that the LPN is not trained in that way. That's the best I can come up with.

The web sites were great resources, and thanks again!
