getting started

Hi, everybody! I'm new here. The forums are great! I'm so excited I've found this place!

Please, help who knows the right way for me to go! I'm a foreigner educated in my native country. Now I'm in the USA ( a permanent resident), trying to find out how to get the RN licenes. Should I get myself redy for the NCLEX befor to apply to the Board? I'm thinking about to go online preparation course first. Something like Kaplan. They have a special program for foreiners. Or should I apply first and see what they say? I'm lost in all this... HELP!!!!

You can not sit the exam until the BON says you can. Depending on BON/RN will decide whether you need a license from your home country. You need to meet requirements for foreign trained nurse. Would suggest you read the sticky called Primer to working in the USA and apply and wait to see what they say. Average processing times for foreign trained nurses is 4-6 months but again will depend on state We also have a NCLEX forum under the student tab which has great threads on hints/tips and supports

If you look at the NCLEX forum and the sticky on Suzanne's plan, you have more than enough time to study. Her plan is free and only requires the latest Saunder's book (comprehensive review) Once you have completed first tip then you only need just over 45 days so Yes I think you will have more than enough time to study once you met requirements

hi how are you? i am new to this site, how do i find the stickies in the forum? and once i send pm to suzanne how do i send it again.....please help

At the top of most forums you will find threads at the top that are locked there and do not move down the line. They are usually things that people look for most often. This is what we call stickies.

You need to have 15 posts to your credit before you can send a pm.

Hi Ms. Suzanne, Thank you so much for your reply....Im slowly getting use to this website , which is a heaven sent.....And i have bought the revised book and doing the qusetions and will contact you as soon as im done....thank and God Bless You for your guidance......

You do not want the revised book, that means that it is the 3rd edition. If you are going to be preparing for the RN exam, you should only be using the 4th edition of Saunder's.
