Gateway CC experience?

I graduated from the LPN program last May and just graduated the RN program. Can't say enough good things about the program. Will more than prepare you for the RN program. Good luck!

Thanks! It's good to hear from someone who has recently gone through the program. If you don't mind me asking, how long was your wait to start the program? Any advice for when I do finally start? Thanks again!

With pass rates at 100% for the NCLEX-PN, I'd say the program is very good. There is a wait everywhere now. As with any Nursing school there are issues, conflicts, and personalities that you have to deal with.

But OVERALL I am glad I went to the program that I did. I was fully prepared for the NCLEX and VERY prepared to work right away as an LPN and am confident that as I complete my RN I will continue to be satisfied.

1. I didn't have a wait but most said now its about 1 to 2 semesters.

2. Do NCLEX-PN question review books well in advance of starting and take as many RN pre/co reqs as you can in advance of starting the program. It moves fast and you are expected to know A&P and alot of Patho even though they aren't required pre-reqs.

Ditto what AZMOM02 said. I also got in right away, but that was 2 yrs ago. I just had 2 friends graduate, and I believe they had to wait 1 semester after applying. 1-2 semester wait seems to be the average. But that is better than a 2 yr wait with the RN program. And yes, NCLEX questions are the best way to prepare. Buy an NCLEX-PN book now and start doing questions.

I had a question for someone who has attended the FTPN program. I know we are checking off CNA skills the first day. How does that work? Do they make each person do all 20 skills in one day? That seems a little crazy to me because we have 40 people, and I know that the perineal care alone is over 40 steps long. Some of the skills have changed since I took my test.

by the way, I waited 1 semester, however the director said that after this semester they are only taking 40 students per semester instead of the 80 that they have been taking. So the number of students each semester will be cut in half, and the list will most likely grow longer and wait times as well. Also, she said that in the future you will be required to have a level 1 fingerprint clearance card not just a fingerprint clearance card.

Wow they are cutting the class size? Thankfully I received a call today about starting at the end of the month, I left a message letting her know I want to start. Hopefully I will get to talk to her tomorrow and it will be official! Thanks for the info, I may have to ask you more questions about the program :-)
