Are you going for ADN-FNP track? Does it take an extra year if you don't have a BSN?

I applied for the WHCNP program. I have an ADN and a BA, so I've completed the portfolio to go directly into the MSN without doing a bridge year. Fingers crossed!

thank you for getting back to me. I saw the requirement of the portfolio. all those publications or presentations. Do you have to fulfill each one of them?

I have plenty of experience writing and delivering presentations so that section wasn't hard to complete. But, I haven't had any scholarly work/research published. The admissions officer I spoke with said that was ok and to include any type of publication. I included my monthly column in the school newsletter (I'm a school nurse), some health policies I co-authored for my school district, an online training project for the district, and a guidebook for school nurses to teach the State mandated middle school sexuality curriculum. So, not publications as I think of them in a research context but definitely things I wrote and other people read (at least they are supposed to read).

This process is so intimidating. I keep thinking positive things like I'm really good at my job and I'm a strong leader, why wouldn't FNU accept me. But then I realize, we're all applying because we're really good nurses and strong leaders and ready to take our careers to the next level. I'm not special.

Have you applied already? Preparing to do so?

I am considering applying. Actually I am enrolled in a BSN program now at a local college and just finish the first course. I will need 28 more credits to finish the BSN. They charge community college rate fore tuition, which is 210$ per credit. I just don't feel so enthusiastic to use one year to finish the BSN and then 2 years for MSN. I could be wrong, but am I the only one who feels the content of online BSN courses really are not very relevant to my nursing skill?

Do you hold a bachelor's degree in any field? FNU does not require a BSN to apply for the MSN program. Just a BA or BS in any discipline, in addition to an ADN. Completing your BSN at the lower tuition rate is wise, especially since just about any other graduate program requires a BSN so it does open a lot of doors.

That's such a productive way to utilize your anxious energy! I'm just getting extra snuggles in with my kiddos! If it's meant to be, it will be. ? Looking forward to sharing in everyone's joy that gets accepted!
