HI Ado sirI and Tweety

Stars it's good that you will now be able to chart the course for your own life without having to serve as a caregiver. I imagine it will be an improvement both to your physical and mental health

Work was bad yesterday, heavy workload overall, had to work on the side project, got a new case, and had an issue to deal with at the end of the day. Got to take lunch but ended up staying nearly an hour late. Granted, part of the reason I stayed late was to work ahead to make today easier

The rest of the day was quiet, just exercised and relaxed

Today hopefully will be easier, the workload will be less than yesterday, although I will still have to work on the side project and get ready for being off next week. After work meeting my church friends D and T along with the minister, hopefully won't be delayed at work

Going to be a bit warmer today, upper 70s

Good morning!

Have a good day Joe!

The other day a tech asked me to put her down for an extra shift which would have been her first day off orientation. She didn't show and didn't answer texts or calls. Another tech that transferred to us because he didn't like his old unit called in his second day. Another RN on orientation decided he needed a mental health day and called off. I'm going to sound old but the next generation of nurses and CNA's worries me for the future of our profession. I know you need work-life balance and "if I die they'll replace me anyway, so I'll do the bare minimum because they don't care" kind of stuff young people are being fed and it's good in some ways. But I really don't remember my generation doing things like no-call no show, calling off when you first start or even on orientation. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway with that rant out of the way, I'm off today. Slept long and hard until Waffles woke me up for breakfast. It's wash the sheets day and I have other laundry to do. Have a haircut scheduled for 1:00 and will meal prep.

This is my exciting life.

It seems, looking back, that a no-call, no-show newbie was pretty much immediately "let go". Unless something outrageously profound caused the absence, there was just NO Excuse for pulling that kind of thing. Total unreliability was, to say the very least, frowned on, and a great disappointment to the rest of the staff who was looking forward to having SOME relief by a new hire!

I woke up at 4 AM thinking about gifting my neighbor with the toaster, the microwave, and some shelving I can't take with me and he could use (he had told me he was going to be very conscientious about storing the new tools NEATLY so he could always know where they were, and not have to go searching!) I stopped short of getting up right then to free up the shelving from its current load. I had only been asleep for 2 hours at that time, and realized I needed to go back to sleep! For some reason, the idea of not letting SiL have any say over what was all MINE, because she would probably ditch some of it into the trash, made me happy!

Now that I am AWAKE and coffee'd up, I'm going to take that MUCH needed shower and shampoo. It is supposed to be stormy and in the 90's, and I plan to work INSIDE, so I will get up now and 'git'erdone' before any storm decides to nix my plan! I will not shower if it is going the thunder-and-lightning route outdoors.

Tawk whichooz laydah!

Oh! And a four-drawer oak filing cabinet, too, after the pathway to it finally gets clear!

Good morning. I need to get an early start on things today, as I have much to do and I seem to fall asleep every afternoon. I went grocery shopping yesterday, doing some work at the demo garden. And I got the green beans and carrots weeded in the veggie garden. Today I need to wash and pack clothes, and pack the trailer with food for the next week. We have a whole list of "don't forget" things that we have forgotten in the past, LOL.

Stars, that is great that the tools went to someone who can use them, and you get some dollars in return.

I don't know if it the same, but we have the no show sort of thing with volunteers at the demo gardens. The new people have a commitment of 60 hours after they finish classes but very few are showing up. It's not even hard work, like a hospital. Plant some plants, pull a few weeds, greet visitors, enjoy the birds. We have volunteers who walk with canes and walkers who show up.

Hooray for showers + shampoo! I dislodged another 'hitch-hiker' from my scalp; ☹️ yes, another %^u*&IRy8i9(!!# TICK! I have NEVER seen TICKS as bad or as often as I have this year and very seldom was ever PLAGUED with them being on ME! But apparently hot water with Head'n'Shoulders and a comb was too much for it. I smiled as it went down the drain!

Looks kinda mean, hot. and humid outside. UGH. But gotta walk the Tinker-gurl before I settle in to clearing more of this halacious MESS! Hope I don't sweat all my clean-ness away!

I totally gave up the low-carb diet yesterday and this morning, feeling justified by my blood donation yesterday. I'll get back to it. It won't be helpful to beat myself up every time I decide to enjoy some food. I feel much better today.

We had a downpour early this morning and the next several days have fairly high potential for rain and storms. I went back to the office last night to try to get some things caught up. It's a good thing, too, because when people are here I get interrupted for a lot of things. Still have a lot to do to be ready for some deadlines so might spend some time here over the weekend.

Thinking of moving my piano back into the living room. It has been in my bedroom since we brought Grandma here in 2020. Which means that in order to get it tuned I have to let a tuner into my bedroom, which means it has to be tidy, which means I might never get it tuned. I don't even know when it was done last, but it needs it and I want to be able to play it.

We've had a few of those (generally younger) people who don't seem to have a commitment to the job. My observation is that they usually don't last long even if they are not fired. It is disappointing to be counting on someone to come in to work and share the workload and they don't.
