Stars that's pretty bad that they let the infection go that far, though it's true vet care is expensive

Tried not to be too irritated at work yesterday when I found I had been given not 1 but 2 new cases to do in addition to the side project. Morning was a madhouse, I worked on the new cases while in hold with various doctors offices and PT provider, doing the stuff that didn't require calling. Then got the calls for the new cases done. By lunch I was tired but the new cases were done and the work on the side project, which didn't take as long as I had feared. The afternoon was easier but still fairly busy

After work went to the happy hour event with the gay group but no one else showed up. Had to check the email to make sure I had the right date. Since I'm on the events committee I decided to stay for the first hour, when no one showed up skipped the 2nd hour and went home

Today have the day off. Will go to the Arboretum in the morning, will also get my emissions test done, since that's a lot easier to do during the week than the weekend. Not sure what else I will do but will try not to overschedule myself

Going to be another warm day in the mid 80s

Good morning. The smoke is much better today, and the heat has eased. I have been sleeping poorly, so as many of you know, leads to low energy and feelings of blah.

I did pull myself together yesterday and did a deep cleaning of the dishwasher. There was a disgusting build up of greasy crud on the seals around and on the bottom of the door. Perhaps because of the stainless steel interior and black seals I didn't notice like I would have on the old machine that was white. But I actually gagged little. Afterwards, I ran a cycle with a cup of vinegar. It definitely smells better. Next battle: fruit flies!

I need to gather some food stuffs for the food bank. We are on program where the Kiwanis comes by once a month to pick up a shopping bag full of non-perishables. We will set that on the front porch steps in the morning, along with our plastic grocery bags that they gladly take.

Not much else planned, except pulling a few weeds.

Hello all!

Joe, after the crazy day yesterday, some quiet time at the Arboretum seems like just the thing to help you re-set.

nursej22, congrats on the deep-cleaning job!

Not much going on here. Slept poorly, will likely nap today. One of the cats has been vomiting daily, we are keeping an eye on her. Maybe it's a hairball that just won't pass, dunno. We have nothing planned for the weekend.

Have a good afternoon and evening and WEEKEND!!

At least fruit flies are not too hard to get rid of. Congrats on getting the deep-clean done.

Hope dianah's cat gets over the vomiting with no long-term problems.

It appears we are finally going to get some rain. There is thunder. There are dark clouds. The temp has dropped from 99 to 85.

I forced myself to get through a task at work that has been plaguing me.

The other night we all went to see the latest Spiderman movie. I liked it.

No plans for the weekend other than a leadership meeting after church Sunday. Hubs should go check on the boat again since we have it at Lake Hefner. The docks are not floating docks so when the water level drops you've got to keep an eye on things so the boat doesn't end up hanging from its moorings.

Twin B is on vacation this weekend with no plans but to have a break from the job. I get it.

As Albert the Alligator used to say in the POGO comics, "GADFRY P. SAKES AND HIS LEFT-HANDED BROTHER!"

I am as cross as a rained on bumble-bee, REALLY! The niece has come to visit and brought two of her big, loud dogs with her, and also her cute little smiling boy, BUT she has kept the dogs out on the lanai, and today she and the kid are gone delivering food to the needy. Last night when I went out to the kitchen to get some ice in my sippy-cup, the dogs saw me through the back door and began raising 99 kinds of H-E-two sticks, vocally. Then Tinker started in with a high-pitched squeaking bark. The big dogs are very nice, but they just want some attention and company. Tinker wants to yell at them..... a LOT! Then today the dern cell phone kept ringing all afternoon, and any time anyone went into the kitchen, the big dogs started again with the barking and Tinker with her annoying two cents. I began SHOUTING "QUIET!" at the dogs and her, as did S and J, yelling, "SHUT UP!", from the other end of the house, so it has not been a very peaceful day here at all. I am positively cross-eyed with the stress of all the noise. I really wish the niece would take her dogs and go home, but it may be that she is planning to spend the week-end, because J keeps talking about cleaning out the garage, so I don't know if that'll be going on tomorrow or not. I can't even walk Tinker around the back of the house, for the hullaballoo it raises. I would NOT do at all well working in a kennel!

I finished streaming all of SHETLAND two nights ago, and now I have started streaming VERA, who sometimes shouts about as much as I feel like doing! J says I should watch something "light and airy, and maybe funny..." but sometimes that kind of thing can make me feel cross as well!

So the best thing might be to just get off the laptop and I dunno, maybe I should go out and sit in my car! Now I know why I have seen so many old guys doing that since I moved South; it's a way to get away (from the wifey, maybe, without going anywhere?)

Well, eventually those dogs will be going home and peace will reign again. Meanwhile I should find some noise-cancelling earphones when I go to the store again, because all ear-plugs do is muffle the sound a bit!

No Stars, I feel for ya, but I'm afraid I feel more sorry for the dogs (who need the attention)! But I do like your cuss-phrase: Gadfrey P. Sakes and his left-handed brother!! Hmmm, it remains to be seen if niece is staying for the weekend... fingers crossed she isn't!

Hello Ado! I hope you do get some rain. It seems most everywhere needs rain, these days.

I watched a show about Lost Cities, and this episode was about Atlantis -- or what the archeologists think MIGHT be Atlantis, as Plato wrote of the city. Summary: they surmise the Minoans built two large cities, one on Santorini and one 100 miles away, on Crete. Large, sumptuous palaces, hot-and-cold running water, indoor toilets and sophisticated waste disposal systems (1000 years ahead of other cultures). Then, the volcano exploded on Santorini, around 1500 B.C. From measuring the ash deposits on Santorini, Crete, and in Egypt, they calculated the explosion was 10X that of Krakatoa. The volcano destroyed the civilization that was built on Santorini, and the following tsunami obliterated the civilization on Crete. Excavations on Santorini found man-made walls intact under 80 ft of pumice, which was under another 80+ feet of ash deposits. They have only begun to explore these sites (Knossos on Santorini, and the north shore of Crete).

Re: Plato's writings of Atlantis, in 350 B.C. (one thousand years after the event): the archeaologists think a Greek scholar named Solon journeyed to Egypt around 594 B.C., and there he was shown some wall etchings depicting the city of Atlantis that was destroyed, and he took with him the story of that grand city and its destruction. The story was then passed by word-of-mouth -- so to speak, in drawing rooms! -- and Plato picked it up and wrote about it, and it was later found described in his writings. Haha, there was much more, and I can't recall it all, but I found it fascinating!

It was 100 degrees today, is starting to cool down.

Have a good evening!
