**FREAKING out*** SFSU/Canada BSN program

Hmmm...I didn't know they had a satellite program with Canada (Can-yada) College. I attended SFSU for my prerequisites before moving to NYC for nursing school. I only know about SFSU's personal BSN program. Their program was highly competitive to get into. I had an overall 3.6 and a 3.7 with my prerequisites and I didn't get in. The BSN application process is weird too. They "look" for certain things in people. Foreign language, minority status (if they still do this), health care experience and of course GPA. I remember they looked closely at your anatomy, physiology, statistics and microbiology grades.

I'm sure the satellite program is different than the actual BSN program within the university. It would make sense they would be a little tougher with their own educated students. No? not sure. Anyhow, I hope I'm not making you nervous. You will more than likely get in. I have no idea what they are looking at anymore. I moved away to NYC to get my degree.

Thanks Bean, but I have to admit, I am nervous still. It seems I have the same qualifications as you and you didn'tget it.

I do have TONS of volunteer experience (600 hours @ UCLA alone, about 100 @ Lucile Packard) and did work in a Geriatirc clinic @ Stanford and was a counselor for underpriveleged LA chidlren, but I just don't know. The suspense is killing me.

This is THE most frustrating thing in the world. I graduated from UCLA on 2004, and just applied to SFSU/Canada College BSN program. I have worked in healthcare for 7 years, have a 3.8 in my pre-req's and overall 3.5. I am finishing up Chem (my last pre-req) right now. I will know end March/early April if I am in.

The suspense of not knowing my fate and if I will finally be able to become a nurse. I have known my entire life that I wanted to be in medicine (I helped raise my brother who was a near-drowning victim) for 18 years, until his death in 2001.

It's KILLING me!!!!! I stare at the SFSU website everyday, to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I think I'm a good applicant and my boyfriend is so sick of hearing me talk/worry about it b/c he sys "Don't worry - you'll get in!". He's confident in me but I DON'T KNOW MY COMPETITION. I am not so confident tht I will be admitted. Anyone else appyling to this program??

Oh I didn't get to read this before I replied back to you on the last thread. I too am freaking out. I graduated at CSUN on 2001, and I'm a Medical Assistant right now. I too am freaking out. I also check their website everyday to see if I'm missing anything else. We just have wait and see this March/April. It's coming up soon. Good Luck to you. I'm worried as well....

I think sfsu (that's San Francisco State, right?) is very competitive. Have you thought about Samuel Merritt's direct entry or accelerated bachelor's program? You sound like a good fit and would probably get in.

Yes, I also looked into Samuel Merritt, but that means I have to take two more pre-reqs... (Pharmacology and Patophysiology). It's also so expensive to get in. For a whole year, it cost about $62,000!!! I'm also trying to get into Ohlone, but it really doesn't matter if it's only an Associate. I really want to become a nurse. I'm sure you will get into the SFSU program. You have the background. I also volunteer at Stanford Hospital.

I didn't apply to sfsu, just smc.

You could apply to Samuel Merritt, and see if you get in, and if do get in, you could *then* take those two extra classes. Or if you apply to the direct entry masters program, they don't require those two classes.

I applied to the SFSU Generic Masters RN prg and originally got a rejection letter. I then called and asked if they can hold my application for the next application process. Well little did I know they put me on the waiting list and I got a call the week before the program started with good news. This is now my last year in the program. So don't give up hope. I will cross my fingers for you/ :caduceus:
