  1. Thanks for the reply. All transcript of records and original copies has been sent and receipt has be acknowledged. I cannot enroll to MSN program until they tell me I am qualified..sigh...
  2. good day! I need help. I am a foreign grad. Philippine grad to be exact. I have been in nursing for 10 years (UK, KSA). I recently asked University of Phoenix to evaluate my credentials if I am qualified to take MSN course or should I consider taking extra credits to qualify. Its been a month now and I am still waiting for their reply. I called a week ago and the lady who is handling my application said that it will take a little bit of time for a foreign grad's credentials to be assessed. My question is that how much time is little time? She cannot tell me any exact number as she said it will depend on who will evaluate my transcrips of records. I wonder whats wrong with it. Any info pls. I really wanted to enhance my skills more and I am so excited to start it ASAP. Shall I look for another school? online or classroom? I work fulltime in a very busy ward right now but I am confident that I can squeeze through some time studying anywhere really. whe:bluecry1:ther at home or campus. It is the credential evaluation result that is holding me back..
  3. hang in there. Best of luck...and....ADVANCE GRATS! ****winks***
  4. I have been a member here and this web site helped me a lot regarding nclex. I didnt make it the first and the second tries, like others, i hated Nclex, and I hated myself and even blame my family for my test results. Hectic sched, too many stuff to do etc etc...The last time I took nclex, I stopped thinking about other stuff. I focused on reviewing. I reviewed for 4 hours x4 days, altho I have been doing Suzanne's plan , the last four days are the days I really focused on answering questions, analyzing why A is right and not B or why C is better answer than D or E or A etc etc...I freed my brain with outside stress. It helped. When I took the test, although I am scared, I feel calmer than before. I prayed and finally, December 24, I passed! Suzanne's plan helped me a lot, I did my best and finally hit the jockpot! I didnt loose hope. Now that I am a full pledge nurse, I still complain, infact, I sometimes hate nursing and sometimes I wanted to ditch my super difficult patients, but most often, I feel good knowing that I helped them recover. Dont loose hope guys. It will not just give you big bucks, but will also give you a sense of fulfillment in many ways...So hang in there tight....
  5. mine shut off at 77 and I passed! No one can ever guarantee what our test results will be. Hang in there, You did your best, I Hope you pass. Enjoy the waiting game.
  6. night shift differential is $4-5 an hour
  7. In the hospital where I am currently working, the start rate is 28.50 for new grads Plus a $ raise after 90 days of hire and a 3% raise every 6 month or a year, I am not really sure. We are unionized as well. The parking is free. I recently passed nclex but have been working abroad as an RN. They credited all my nursing experience even if this job is my first ever nursing job in the states. Yes, the average rent here is 1200-1600 for 2 br 2 bath apartments. I received my first salary 2 weeks ago (for 36 hrs of working) and my total tax deduction is $260 for a week's work! kinda steep , I guess...
  8. You can find a nursing job here in CA! there are lots of hospitals that accepts foreign grad with foreign experience. I am one of them. I am a UK (st Georges, Tooting London---Neuro-surgery unit) nurse and came here with no US experience and landed on telemetry (ICU step down unit which I dont have any experience as well!).Just got lucky! The hospital that accepted me even credited my nursing experience abroad. I didnt enquire personally. I have used the hospital website to apply. i applied to 3 hospitals and 1 day after applying, 1 responded immediately, booked me for an interview the following day and got accepted the same day as my interview! Best of luck!
  9. I phoned the human resources department in scripps hospital SD 3 weeks ago and inquired about the new grad salary rate. Regular ward is $29/hr a little more for special areas maybe a $ more.
  10. hi. I know that this thread has been more than 2 years old now but I just wanna ask since i am really interested in Taking some Masters degree, to ask these questions: 1. is online masteral course valid in all hospitals or health care agencies? Was it the ame as the classroom masteral degree? 2. How long is the masters of arts in nursing course? a year or 2? or how many units does it have to finish? 3. If I want to become nurse practitioner (i currently am oncardiac telemetry floor plus ICU step down) which type of masters of nursing is best to become a nurse practioner? . How much will it cost me to finish MA? 4. any suggestions which school (both online and classroom) is good to study MA-N. (Chula vista, san diego area) thanks so much!
