hey guys.. hope you can help me figure things out..
i am applying for the CES by the CGFNS since it is a requirement of the NJ Board of Nursing. i am just quite confused if i should take the English Exams first before applying to CGFNS for the CES and NJ BON for NCLEX.
here are my querries:
1. does the NJ BON require English Proficiency Report as part of the complete CES Report?
2. can the NJ BON process my papers already even without the results of the English Proficiency?
3. does the NJ BON give considerations like waiting for my English Proficiency Results?
4. can i send my CES papers to CGFNS and NCLEX papers to NJ BON at the same time?
i am planning to take the English Exams after i pass the NCLEX. but if they wont let me sit for nclex without my English Exam Results yet then maybe i can take the IELTS/TOEFL first... sigh.. im really confused.. hope you guys can help me clear out the clouds on my mind.. thanks so much! God speed!

Here, took the liberty of searching for this thread as reference: https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/nj-licensing-graduates-other-countries-171574-2.html
Note that this is an old thread and I still recommend to going to NJ BON's website to check any updates. Plus, go to CGFNS' website to see the updated requirements for CES. It is now stated there that they require the English Proficiency exam if and only the State BON requires it for foreign-educated nurses and NJ does require it. You need to go to NJ BON and see if they accept the IELTS already or still just the TOEFL. Always, see the info. on your State BON's website for updated information before sending in the applications and not rely on old information because requirements for foreign nurses changes all the time. In short, know your State BON's website by heart and always update yourself w/ any new info. they may give.
What is sure now is that you need to pass an English exam and send it to CGFNS to complete your CES requirements. CGFNS will then send the report to NJ BON. You only need to know now is if NJ accepts the IELTS already or not because if not you will have to go through TOEFL.
It is advisable to send the NJ application form and fee to the BON and apply for the CES (application form+fee+transcripts) at the same time if finances and time permits. You can send the results of the English exams to CGFNS later as follow-up. The impt. thing is to send the transcripts first and of course the fee so that they can start the process as soon as possible as it is the transcript evaluation w/c takes the longest time to do.
Lastly, you also need to see if CES has a 1 year requirement to send in all the requirements. This can be found on their handbook and website.
thanks you so much lawrence. i've been visiting the NJ BON's website but i may have overlooked the information regarding this matter. thank you so so so much again. God bless you always!

my application is with NJ BON. In my case, i passed ielts (english proficiency exam) first before i applied online with CGFNS CES. CGFNS correspondence told me that they can't issue your CES if you have not passed any english proficiency exam. As u can see with online application with CGFNS for CES, the english proficiency report comes along with your CES report. If your application is with NJBON, CGFNS automatically charges you the CES with English prof report.
thanks for the info dudzy.. how's your application? did you take nclex already? by the way, did NJBON accepted your IELTS instead of TOEFL? I read in the application form that they require TOEFL.. i emailed NJBON and asked them about new revisions with their application requirements especially about the english exams. i asked if they accept ielts instead of toefl but up to now, no response from NJBON. hope to hear from u soon.. thanks again..
I already took the nclex, and passed just a week ago (thank God!). I took ielts as my english proficiency exam, they accepted it, gave me eligibility so that means IELTS is okay...
congrats dudzy! happy for you! thanks again for helping me out. il start reviewing for ielts next week. i believe ielts is much easier than toefl so, im opting for ielts instead of the toefl. i just hope im on the right track, the website of NJ BON for foreign nurses is still unavailable, im checking from tiem to time for new updates. btw, where did you take nclex and did you go to a review center? and how long was the processing time since you applied for CES and then for NCLEX?
i took nclex just in manila... i enrolled in a review center last year only but most of the time i relied on self review... CES will take 6-8 weeks upon completion of payments and requirements mine took exactly 8 weeks... i would advice that you send your application for NJBON 2 weeks before your CES report will be issued...
