Forced PPL

Is anyone else being forced to deplete their PPL bank by their hospital system? This bank of PPL s both vacation time and sick time. After it’s depleted we are to take no pay days. My unit is schedule driven and has not returned to pre covid capacity, therefore we are overstaffed. At the rate we are going my PPL will be depleted in a matter of weeks.

We use PTO, and yes many employees had their PTO depleted when hours were cut at the beginning of covid. My hospital as well as many in the areas instituted a temporary covid pay where you get a certain percentage of your base pay once all of your PTO runs out.

Yep. All but a few key departments were required to use one day of PTO per pay period. However, they WERE allowed to go into negative PTO up to a certain number of hours. Then the surge hit and that program went away rather quickly. We need all hands on deck now.
