Following up!

When you call a facility after applying what do you say? Every time I've ever called to ask about the status of my application, they tell me to check online. What else can I say to them to actually pull my application and take a look?! So far I've gotten no call backs applying online. :(

I usually say something like, "I just wanted to follow up on my application/interview and to find out if you needed any more information." At least that gives me a purpose for calling. Maybe a second call in a couple of weeks to inquire about the status of the application if I haven't heard anything either good or bad. But two is the limit--after that, I leave it up to them to contact me and move on in my search (if I haven't already)

If as you say, if despite repeated calling they keep telling you to check online, then I think they've made their wishes pretty clear. You're probably not the only new grad that keeps the phone ringing, and they may not be willing/able to deal with all of the calls and requests.

Good luck in the job hunt!

I've always said "I was just calling to make sure you guys received my application and let you know I'm very interested in the position." Keep it simple. Good luck in your job hunt.
