First week of ursing school

Published

Okay so the first week of nursing school is over. My week went absolutely horrible and I need to vent. I was sick the entire week and only made it to the first day of class (barely made it through that). Now i have to make up 6 hours of lab next week. I also have to attend clinical orientation and start clinicals. I feel way behind already and it is seriously stressing me out. I'm sure I can catch back up but this definitely isn't the way I wanted to start nursing school. how ever I am thankful that this happened the first week rather than later in the semester after clinicals started. Thanks for listening.

Hang in. In six months this will all be forgotten. But note how it makes you feel to get behind---and do whatever it takes not to get behind again.

Ugh. I'm so sorry! What a terrible start to your nursing school jointly.

I came down with some nasty bug my first week of nursing school, and that bug turned into bronchitis and then pneumonia. I was sick for six weeks. By the fourth week I was stressed out, I broke down crying in Sim Lab for no apparent reason and was super embarrassed.

But I survived. I think my adrenal glands recovered. And it's all a distant memory. Just put your game face on and plough through...all while resting and getting plenty of fluids, of course. ;)

Wishing your immune system the best of luck!

Thanks guys! I will definitely remember the feeling. I absolutely hate being behind. I do everything I can to avoid being rushed. Everywhere I go I am always 15mins early. I'm probably not as far behind as I feel, I've read all the reading assignments twice. In lab they went over hand washing, putting on gloves and gowns, and setting up a sterile environment. I learned how to do all that while working at a vet clinic. I really hope I don't break down in front of everyone. I already broke down when I realized there was no way I was going to be able to make through the first lab(I was at home thankfully). I'm not one to miss class for any reason. Looking forward to six months from now when it is a distant memory. :D
