So, I've been applying everywhere within a 50 mile range & noticed most, if not all, require the "1 year experience." I finally got lucky & had my first LPN interview as a new grad 2 days ago for a LTC facility. The first 30 minutes of the interview went really well & then, the DON started asking me situational type of stuff that I couldn't answer due to the fact that I was kind of nervous & also because I am still a new grad! I did the best I could and tried to answer the questions. Even when I got stuck, she tried to hint out the right answers.
In the end, she explained more about orientation for new grads and more about the facility procedures. She asked if I had any questions & I made sure to ask good questions like, "What is the patient to nurse ratio?" She also made copies of my driver's license, my nursing license & my BCLS card. She told me to stop by again & hand in 2 references, make a copy of my Social Security card, and hand in a recent physical. I thought these were all good signs until she said she had 2 more interviews to go through & that I was the 2nd out of the 4 interviews she had that day. She explained that if they were interested, they would be giving me a call.
I turned in all the remaining stuff she needed the next day with a thank you letter.
I guess my question is, "Is this considered a bad interview?"
ps: My interview lasted 50 minutes (As a new grad, the length of the interview freaked me out ). Not sure if the long length was due to her explaining more about the facility or me getting stuck on certain questions.
