First IV stick!

I did my first IV stick today! Since I started nursing school, I've been afraid I wouldn't be able to start an IV but my first try was perfect!

Afterward, my BS dropped and I think it was due to the rush of excitement combined with nervousness. But I'm happy that I was able to get a successful stick. :yeah::yeah::yeah:

Congrats! I remember that feeling quite well. It is a great accomplishment.

I got my first IV start in the ICU, and the pt was a bit out of it. He didn't even realize I'd done it. Made it easy!!

Congrats! That is such a wonderful feeling :)

I did my first IV stick in the ICU, too. The patient was completely aware and the RN I was following told me she normally doesn't let students do IV's (why I don't know, because she was letting me do everything else that day!) but she had me try and I got it in on the first try :) I felt even better when the patient told me I did a good job because they could barely feel it!

I did my first stick on a lab partner today. First try was successful--now they'll let me do it in clinical. I tried a few hours later, just for the practice, but my lab partner's vein rolled.
