first Interview as RN tomorrow !!!

Published

I JUST PASSED NCLEX like 4 days ago...ANNNND I get a call for an interview!!..this was my face.. :wideyed:. I am very excited yet shaking in my boots!!! I never thought I would be given an opportunity like this so early after passing NCLEX.

The job offer is a per diem RN/ Home health type of agency call Home Care Associates (there are many locations across NJ). I feel so unprepared the recruiter on the phone just cut right to the chase and offered me an interview for Thursday (TOMMORROW!!! Mind you i received this call tuesday night). I dont have all of the documentation she asked me to provide i.e. .my license number is still pending. I plan to just bring in documentation of my passing nclex score and proof that my license number is pending alone with my resume and any other identifications I may need. I am so scared I really dont want to screw it up any nurses that work in home health have any ideas or tips on how this interview will be conducted or how I should prepare????

You're going to be asked behavior type questions like, how do you handle a difficult patient, if your patient has a terminal illness and the family asked you not to disclose it with the patient what would you do? They are looking to see how you can handled a stressful situations. Good luck! :)

Look up nursing interview on YouTube.com. There are several good videos. Then have a personalized answer for each question. Try to find out as much as you can about this company before your interview. This may impress your interviewer. You might also want to google them to see if there is anything negative that might be cause for concern. I hope everything goes well. I couldn't imagine working home health as my first gig out of school. I hope you have an adequate orientation of 10-12 weeks or more since you are a new grad

I agree with the PPs, however, I would just like to add that you should also have questions prepared to ask your interviewer.
