First Fundamentals Test

Nursing Students General Students

I had my first fundamentals test today.....and I did extremely well. I made a 92 which is an A in my program.

I didn't really do anything different from my pre-req classes besides study out of NCLEX study books.

Should I be concerned? I mean, everyone in my class did poorly, and I was expecting to do the same. Beginners luck? I mean, I know I will fail a few nursing tests eventually, but I just kind of went in accepting that I would not do that great.

What do you guys think?

Great job! I think you obviously prepared in a way that allowed you to be successful on your first exam. Practicing NCLEX style questions was a great idea as I'm sure it helped you to become familiar with the way the exam would be prior to taking it. I say keep up your study habits and make modifications as you see fit.

Clearly you've found a way to study that works for you early on in the program. Congratulations on your success! Keep up the hard work and excellent study tactics and I'm sure your successes will be great in your journey through nursing school! Best of luck. :D

We have ATI books. That is what I studied out of and got an 88, which I was happy with. Mine was a lot more general than I thought and I feel like I crammed too much info into my head. I am definitely going to relax a little for this next one. I have to do checkoffs tomorrow which are pass/fail. Then at some point this weekend I will worry about the test. But our own judo competition is Saturday and I know I will be exhausted from that on Sunday. We don't have class Mondays so I am going to get all of my studying in on Monday.

I did pretty well in Fundamentals. I found it mostly common sense, and once I learned about NCLEX style questions I was good to go. Keep doing what you're doing and don't overthink it.
