Financial Aid?

Hi. I'm looking to start an LPN program at Orlando Tech in August of 2012. It's a ways off, however, I'm worried about paying for it. I currently don't work but my husband does. We make "too much money" to qualify for most programs. But most of our money is tied up in mortgage and bills. We have a child and we own our house. Are there any financial aid programs for an LPN program that don't require you to demonstrate "financial need"? I mean, we're not needy at all, but it's not like I have $5000 just lying around. Suggestions?

I would suggest that you look into what scholarships your college has. It is my understanding that many scholarships go unused because people don't know about them. Try going to your college's Financial Aid office and discuss with them your financial situation and see exactly what might be available and if you qualify. By starting now, you will know what is available, what you need to do to apply and when the due dates are. Apply for anything and everything! Good luck!

So you cannot obtain a Stafford government loan to finance the $5000 tuition? Stafford loans are low-interest, not based on credit or income, and virtually anyone can get them.

My issue is I do not want to take out a loan. I still have debt from past student loans and I'm weary of putting even more debt on top of that.

I'm going to try my best to earn or find as close to the $5000 I need in the next year. But we'll see. It's one of those things that SOUNDS easy...
