After years of reading these boards and working various specialty floors, I am finally going to start in MICU next week. I know a thousand of these threads are posted, but this one is finally mine. I have been waiting for this ever since I started nursing school, and am nervous, but more than that I am really truly excited to start this part of my career.
The MICU is a great one. Everyone seems very enthusiastic about teaching, which was a criteria of mine, as well as the manager seems very down to earth and responsive, and the patient population is right up my alley. Basically everything that isn't surgical comes to this unit. They utilize CRRT often, and also use the flotrac rather than swan ganz in most cases.
All of you who have contributed to this board over the years, I have learned from and I have chosen the right ICU thanks to you.
thank you!
