After a year of trying, I finally got into the OR I've been wanting to get into. I'm smiling like an idiot all the time because of so happy I am.
I know that its going to be hard and accepted that it's going to take time to get use to. I wanted to know if anyone has any advise about starting in the OR?

This is a question we see a lot here in the OR forum. Have you looked through some of the other posts? Here's a few good ones to get you started:

Hi, quick question if you don't mind. Did you not work for a whole year and finally land the OR job or did you work a different unit while waiting to land an OR position? thanks so much and congrats!

I just received an offer to join the OR and I am beyond thrilled! I have been working on a step down unit for almost 7 months, and though I know there is much to learn about nursing care on the floor and I am grateful for the experiences I have had, it just never felt like "my place". From the moment I stepped into the OR in nursing school, I felt like was among "my people" and that feeling was reinforced every time I would go into the OR to observe on my days off. I hope you are enjoying your OR experience. Thanks Rose_Queen for the links! I will probably be posting my own questions soon, and I promise to do a search first.
