Feeling kind of down?

Lately I've been feeling kind of down about nursing school and I'm not sure why. I'm five months away from graduating nursing school (RN), my grades have been fine, but lately I've been feeling like I'm losing my motivation. I don't feel like studying or making an effort. Even with how far I've come, I feel like I haven't accomplished anything. I haven't figured out if this is due to school or if it's just life. I love nursing but the home stretch is just leaving me exhausted. Did anyone else feel like this? Did it get better once school was over?

This is extremely common. I bet if you spoke to some of your classmates about your feelings, many of them would echo the same thoughts. The good news is that it is usually temporary. Try your best to fight through it by thinking of how close you are to your goals and the potential opportunities that lie ahead.

Any chance you're dealing with some Seasonal Affective Disorder? Not sure where you live ~ just something to consider.

I start to feel a noticeable difference right around when the time changes in the fall ... and I don't really feel 100% again until sometime in March or April.

You are not alone my friend. Just keep on plugging away. Think of a specialty in nursing that you will enjoy. Like I always say go big or go home. I know that you feel you haven't accomplished anything and that is how I felt when I finished my first quarter of nursing school. Listen there is nothing to be down about because you need to realize that you will be graduating and actually becoming a nurse. That is super super exciting. Keep your hopes up.

Plus you will always be learning especially on the job in nursing! They can only teach you soo much in nursing school but then you will have a steep learning curve when you get out! Remember nursing is tough and requires a lot of critical thinking. Remember you can do it and remember to be open about any job offers! Congrats on almost graduating!

100% normal. I felt like I was on my belly dragging myself to the finish line that last semester. It was rough. Once I had a job lined up it got a bit better, but I didn't feel normal again until after graduation.
