FCCA- computerized?

Does anyone know if this is acutally going through? I just looked on the degree requirements page and it looks like it is and they are only have 3 "testing windows" a year  The next one doesn't start until June and you wont be able to test until Aug/Sept. It's 3 parts, divided into 2 hour segments. And I don't think you can take the CPNE until after you finish it. I was really hoping to get a CPNE date in July but now I'm not sure if I'll even be able to apply until August!!

MegRT its still on paper, I took it about 2 weeks ago & it took 2 weeks for me to get my grade. An advisor said they had rec'd over 60 at one time so what normally takes a couple of days to grade took 2 weeks. Also once your fcca eligible & are within the recommended credits you become cpne eligible also so even before I ret'd my fcca I applied for the cpne. If your ready for the fcca call them, make the payment, & it will be mailed out to you. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I know it's still on paper now, I am just curious as to when they are starting the computerized version because I still have one exam left. I am thinking about taking it this week so I can be sure to finish before March 1 in case thats the deadline, but I still have some studying to do. I just don't want to wait another week and then regret it because I won't be able to take it until August, kwim?

meg, when i called ec they didnt have a date for it to be on the computer yet. i have my last exam scheduled for the middle of march and just pray its still pen and paper by then

I started EC when the new curriculum first changed over in 2007. Me and my friend finished the nursing test so fast that the advisors said there were only a hand full of students that were at the FCCA point. So they had the paper and pencil version in 2008 and said that the computerized version would come out Aug 2008. Well guess what? Its almost March 2010 and they still can't figure out how to get it on the computer. When you see the FCCA paper version, you will see why its not on the computer yet. This test is very subjective and there is more than one answer that can apply to each scenario. I think EC would have to revamp the whole test to get it on computer and make it fair. Good Luck to you. I think you will be able to take the paper version. IMO, I think they need to can the whole test.

OK spoke to my advisor and it sounds like it's not quite ready yet. He said they are saying "spring" but when I asked if I take my exam in the next few weeks if I would be ok, he said he was pretty sure it wouldn't be out by then. Phew! I'm also getting them to review a course I took that is similar to info lit., I just need to dig up the course despcription. I hope it goes through!! I'm really impressed with the advisor I spoke to, he was very helpful!

well that is good to hear. i keep wondering if i should bump up my march 12th test date. i did that with one of my humanities courses-i just called the university and they mailed me a description they i mailed it to ec and they took it. good luck!!!

Hi Megan, you are right. I just finished talking with one of the EC advisor named Dan, he almost said same thing to me. I ll retest on March 12 after they approved my request to shorten the waiting time. Just keep our fingers crossed:) which is your last test ?

My last test is Chronicity. I took the practice exam and it seems like a LOT of review from everything I have seen already. I just need to focus on sensory and end of life care. I have a test date for Wed., but I might push it until next week. I haven't been able to get as much studying done as I wanted to. I'm just holding my breath that they keep pushing the start date back!!
