FALL 2021 UIC Graduate Entry Master of Science (GEM)

Applied to UIC's Fall 2021 graduate entry program. Would love to meet others who are also going through the process and share any updates. Good luck!

Hi! I also applied to the program! I’ve been looking for a thread for this program for so long glad to see you started one (: hopefully more people find it like I did

I applied as well! Good luck to you both. Do you have any information about the acceptance rate? I've tried looking online and could only find general acceptance rates for the entire college of nursing/graduate school etc.

Thank you! From what I’ve heard in the information sessions, Michael B said a couple of hundred apply and about 60-70 people are admitted. From other discussion posts I’ve seen there’s about a 20% acceptance rate.

Wow, that's a bit lower than I expected. Is this your first choice? I'm curious about people's thoughts on the length of the program. While tuition is cheaper than other schools, when you factor in cost of living and the extra two semesters, I don't think it's much of a difference.

Yes UIC is the only program I applied to this time. If UIC doesn’t work out I plan on applying for DePaul’s program. Did you use NursingCAS system to apply??

Wow I had no clue the acceptance rate was that low. Best of luck to everyone. UIC is one of my top schools but I also am an out of state applicant so it really just comes down to cost at the end of the day for me but this is the only program I’m applying to in IL

Hoping for the best for all of us on here! My application currently says completed, under review with the department. Please keep the group updated with any information that comes your way!

We should be receiving an email for interview invitations through the application portal in the next two weeks.

Did anyone else hear about mock interviews? I was just sent an email today about it!

That's great! I haven't gotten an email about it yet. I hope I'll receive one soon. Will update if I do! Did they give any information about actual interviews on that email?

I hope you hear back soon!! Rooting for you! They didn’t give any info about actual interviews so I have no clue when those emails will be sent out. But there were multiple days for the mock interviews beginning at the end of this week to the end of next week so hopefully actual interview invites will go out by the end of this month?

Hello! I also got an email in regards to the mock interviews. I believe they're happening next week from what I can remember (I can't look back to the dates offered because it's telling me that I already sent my answers). I'm doing mine on the 9th.. How about you?
