Fall 2020 MANE applications

Published

Wanted to get a thread started on applicants for MANE Fall 2020 applicants. I’m applying to Inver Hills and Century with a composite score of 11.53. A little worried it won’t be enough to get in this time around, but I’ve already taken the TEAS 3 times and don’t want to take it again! Good luck everyone!

Hi, I’m also applying to Century, Inver and NHCC. I’m taking the TEAS again this Friday for the fourth time just to see if I can get my score up a little. Otherwise I’ll have 11.50 for my score. Good luck!

I’m debating taking it one more time. My science score went down a lot from the first time I took it. But there aren’t that many non sold out tests to take at this point.

Yeah I don’t think my score will go up anyway but at this point you wait and see what happens.

The waiting is killing me already. And I have a feeling I’ll be waitlisted, so even more waiting. ? But good luck to you on Friday!

Hi guys -

I also just applied for the Century Nursing program, unfortunately I'm not applying anywhere else. I took classes at three different schools during my undergrad where I initially majored in Biology. So I transferred all my credits over and had them evaluated over at century. I didn't have the time to have them evaluated over at inverhill or Normandale so that I can apply over there.

However, my overall composite ranking score is 11.53, my GPA is 3.8 and my Teas score was 77.3%. I am really hoping the benchmarks are around 11.4-12.0 so that most of us in this forum have a better opportunity. Goodluck to you all I look forward to everyone's post. I have a feeling I will be waitlisted, I have looked at previous years and their post makes me feel discouraged as a lot of the students who scored around 11.5-11.7 were waitlisted....?

Inver hills was very similar to Century for what is needed to apply. You should look into it and they have an online application that is easy to send in. But I’m not too confident in my score either. But it seems like our scores would be more competitive for the spring start date, so if we don’t get in this round, hopefully the next round we will!

keep in mind that if you look back at those posts from other years, those who were waitlisted did get in off that waitlist and if they applied for the next start date, they got in.

I am curious how the TEAS test changes because even taking my A & P classes the science part I did the worse on and that's the first tie-breaker. I don't understand how theres people who've never taken AP but still score super high on that test.

Good luck y'all, enjoy all this quiet time before nursing school starts. Once it starts, it will be your life for 18 months.

That’s good to know! But this waiting is already killing me! My science score wasn’t the best either. I had taken A&P 1 before it, but that didn’t help much. I didn’t have very much a&p questions, but lots of chemistry and life science. But ya, I’ve heard nothing but awful things about nursing school. But I’ve been working two jobs and going to school and it’s been pretty stressful. Trying to save enough to not have to work at all during nursing school and my son will be in kindergarten by then. So hopefully getting a break from work will help when it comes to the stress of nursing school.

Are you going to be taking out loans? I want to be able to not work either, which is what they tell you to do in order to succeed, but I’ve never taken out loans before and have no idea how it all works. I’ve always paid cash for school

I’m going to try not to, but we’ll see. I already have an associates degree that I’m paying student loans on, so I don’t want to add to that. You can fill out a fasa and it will tell you how much you’ll get.

Anyone else find Century not as student friendly? I am new to Minnesota and started both around the same time and Inver Hills was just much more student friendly. Especially their orientation and availability of their adviser's. The online nursing application for Inver was great also.

Century is just hit or miss with everything. Even trying to meet with adviser's they wouldn't let me even wait around to ask a question. I had to make an appointment. Wait a week and then when the day came I was in and out in 13 minutes. Had a bad experience today dropping off my application as well. Anyways...... I hope I get in to one, preferred century only because I'd have to take microbiology in the summer if I went to Inver. Both are equal distance to my house so it's a toss up.

Anyone have any info on the programs? I've heard century is good but it has a lot of busy work. I have heard nothing about Inver besides that they were restructuring stuff with the programs.

I hope my scores are good enough to get in!!

I Work with paramedics who have decreases their hours and floated shifts, but they worked through the program. I am decreasing my hours at work and luckily my wife makes enough to balance it out. My trouble is having a kid. Idk how I'm gonna do it.

Good luck to everyone!
