Failed nclex twice

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Good morning everyone I just wanted to come on here and see if I can get a little advice. Unfortunately I took my NCLEX RN for the second time. The first time around the only study material that I use was uworld and I didn't get to finish the question bank and I didn't have all the time in the world to study but I'm willingly able to admit that was my downfall but being bullheaded I wanted to take the test and see what happens and sadly I got my results. Moving on to my second attempt I decided to give you world another shot and finishing the whole queue Bank and also taking the self-assessment exam I got a 86% on the exam and a high chance of passing. Going into the testing center and I felt very confident answering each question to the best of my ability and a computer cut off under a hundred and ten questions and I said I got this I believe that I pass this test but unfortunately I tried the Pearson VUE trick and it accepted my payment once more. So at this point I won't say that uworld didn't work for me but I know that it doesn't work for everyone. Out of my overall percentage on uworld at the second attempt it was a 72% I do suffer from test anxiety but this time around I just didn't feel like I was anxious I just felt, but all and all I I'm going to give it another shot and incorporate Kaplan into my study plan and I will probably try uworld again but any advice would be welcome I'm going through all the stages of grief again and just looking for a prayer of a chance to pass this test thanks for reading.

I'm sorry to hear that. In all honesty I've only heard good things about UWorld. Did you take the time to read through all the rationales? I take my test this week and basically reinforced mainly UWorld and Hurst for content review.

Uworld seems to be very popular I think it is amazing I am a repeat test taker and tried hurst and kaplan . Uworld looks and is familiar to nclex it gets you ready and prepared . Don't use several study materials it gets people confused pick 1 review and do questions over and over and over .

When did you try the trick as you know it's not a 100%..... I hope & pray you passed but the best advice I can give you is wait for your quick results....I know it's hard being a repeat tester but I'm sure you passed....Keep us posted

I'm sorry to feel discouraged. I took mine today...All 265 questions. I can't bring myself to do the trick and don't feel confident. You sound confident which I feel like is a good thing. I understand the pessimistic feeling but I don't know if "the trick" is the final say on it. Keep hope alive. Good luck and congratulations either way. Nursing school was rough enough.

Thank you so much. You'll do great, and yes i did all the questions and read over each rational. I would say uworld is a very good recourse. :/ it just didnt work for me. I wish it would have

I truly dont know what to use this time. I put my heart and soul into studying for the exam with uworld.

Im very nervous to try and study again with uworld my scores werent bad at all high 60's and 70.

I just feel lost.

Is it content? Strategies? I've heard good things about the NCSBN five week course as well as HURST. How are your prioritization skills? Are you able to look at a question and critically think apply it to what the question is asking of you? For example a patient with an post op inguinal hernia who has nausea and vomiting would be higher than a patient with COPD with O2 at 88% because it's expected with the COPD but the inguinal hernia ...could be a possible complication. Or the patient who just had an AAA what would you do first apply 02 or maintain bedrest. What I'm saying is don't give up. Do you know of Mark Klimek...I found his lectures amazing in describing how to prioritize and more. NCLEX is about safety...what can you do as the nurse before you leave that patients room for good. Sit back and take time for yourself before you try again. I know things seem dreary right now but don't give up hope.

Try reading your rationale and understanding WHY did you get that question wrong in the first place. While I was taking NCLEX I was constantly retrieving info from my rationales while I was answering questions or making an educated guess. Best of luck to you and I hope you find that study material that clicks. If UWORLD didn't work for you look for another source.

I believe it could possibly be a little bit of content I decided that I'm going to jump back into the game I have 45 days two prove myself once again I think I'll check the ncsbn program out as well as Kaplan I think I will try to give uworld one more shot but once I finish all of the content that I'm going to stick with as well as the qbank but I'll probably give uworld one more shot but thank you to all that have responded I feel a little bit better each and every day.

Who is Mark Klimek? I have never heard of him. I need help in prioritization. I failed my first attempt at 265. I am going to retest in March.

He does NCLEX reviews in the Ohio area his lectures are really god & he give uu tips to make things stick....for priorization have you tried PDA
