i thought i was doing extremely well, i was getting super hard questions then question 75 came, and then so did 76, and 77 and so on. i ran out of time for the second time at 242 questions. its just rediculous and not fair, i had so many alternate format questions and sata's and about half the test was written with a style of question i have never seen before and that really made me mad during the exam. everything was lining up perfect, i had an afternoon exam so i would be awake and have eaten, i got my lucky number for my locker and for the computer, and then that happens. i just dont know what to do anymore, i have every book out there and i signed up for the kaplan online review so idk where to go from here

I'm really sorry! :-( I can't even begin to imagine how tough that is! You must be so exhausted. Have you completed any programs to prepare for NCLEX? (For example Kaplan). If you have, what were your scores on their exams? What areas did it say you were weaker in? I would say, take some time for yourself... a week or two... or maybe even three, and have some fun. Take a vacation... then, get back out there... create a study plan, and rock the net exam. Good luck. Again, I'm so sorry for your frustrations! You can do it!

I know exactly how you feel. Ive taken the test 4 times, and today I found out that yet again Ive failed. I was doing some research on how they come up with the questions and the grading systen, and it is a joke. Its like they set us up to fail. Im doing my research because I plan on filing a complaint, i think its a way for the state to milk us for our money. The questions dont correspond to the material available to study. Im not even sad about not passing, now i am very angry.

I'm sorry to hear that Do you know what the rules are in your state about how many times you can take it? Here in Florida, you can take it three times, and then you have to take more classes before you can take it a fourth time. I'm not sure if that's a common rule or not.
I took it on Thursday. I found the questions and the way they were worded to be very close to the Kaplan QBank, and I did use their decision tree on a few questions.
So, if you are able, do as many Kaplan QBank questions as you can, and do the question trainer tests, too.
What I did to study was this:
1. I kept a dry-erase board beside me as I did QBank tests. I numbered the board 1 through 4. When I eliminated answers, I would put a little slash next to that answer's number. This helped me not get different answers confused and helped me to organize my thought process. I also did this throughout the NCLEX whenever an answer wasn't obvious to me, which was often.
2. I kept a notebook beside me as well. If I struggled - AT ALL - with a question or any of the answers, I wrote down what I struggled with in question format. So, for example, if it was a question about Grave's Disease, I might have written, "What are the s/s of Grave's Disease?", "What labs are important in Grave's Disease", "What meds are used for Grave's disease?", and so on.
3. When I finished a test, I would review EVERY question - not just the ones I got wrong. This is for a few reasons - sometimes I knew the answer, but when I reviewed, there would be information about the other answers that I didn't know, so it was a good refresher. Also, sometimes my reasoning was different from theirs. With the questions I got wrong, reading the rationales is obviously important.
As I reviewed the questions, I referred back to my list of questions/notes on things I struggled with during the test. As I came across those items again, I looked them up right then and there - for this, I used either Saunder's Comprehensive Review book or the internet. Or both. Whatever helped me understand it best.
I would then go to my notebook and write down the answers to my questions. It became a sort of study guide, and it really helped me review and retain information.
I hope this helps you. Best of luck!

I know the feeling. I have been where you are, however, don't lose hope. Study like you never studies before... The best form is learning is repetition... repetition, repetition....

Aww! I'm so sorry! Don't give up!! From all the hard questions and SATA's it seems like you were doing well. When you do your practice questions just try and time yourself a minute a question. Practice your timing for this next one and pray! We all will pray for you here. Be happy! You can do this!

My friend just passed after her 4th time taking it. Do not lose hope. She did the Kaplan on DEMAND and did every single Q bank and Q trainer question. She also watched every video available! I also used Kaplan on Demand for my first time taking the NCLEX. I agree that the question are very similar to NCLEX and my scores were average. It said get a 65% on Qtrainer 1,2,3 I got 58% on those with 4,5 I got a 47% and 60% and for 6,7 they say to score above 60% I got a 60%. AS for my exam I had a bunch of SATA, meds, math, alternate style questions!
Good luck to you, you can do it!
thank you all for your suggestions and advice and i appreciate any prayers that are said. i havent been on here since i first wrote it bc its just so hard to get going again and working 11 hrs a day im exhausted by the time i get home, and if i cut my hrs to study then i struggle getting by with so little a paycheck, it definitely tests and pushes us to our limits to pass this damn thing
