Has anyone taken their Excelsior RN and successfully completed a NP program? As of today, Excelsior does not have an NP program, so I'd have to seek training elsewhere. I'm currently a paramedic and I'm considering bridging to RN, with the eventual plan being NP. I'm a little hesitant to take the Excelsior route if it doesn't transfer well. I'm not willing to move, either, so an online BSN to MSN bridge is probably the only option.

I have the same plan as you! i'm currently finishing up my associates degree in pre nursing from a local community college, then I plan to attend Excelsior for my ASN. Once completed I'll do my RN-BSN online, then my NP online. (Both through 2 separate local universities) I know that excelsior is accepted through both of these institutions cause I know two different people who have done just that! (I live in Tennessee)

One of my 2010 EC classmates went on to obtain her NP...from where, I don't know. But she lives in Florida.

I think I would probably plan this according to programs available near you. I have looked into myself as a very long term goal. I have a teaching degree and also my LPN. So now am working toward RN and hopefully to BSN and to NP. Seems like a long road considering I already have a Master's degree, but working as an LPN is just not cutting it for me. I do love it so much, but got to do more with myself. There is a program that I can do here in NY. It's out of Stonybrook College. BSN to NP and it is distance learning. I have to kind of find my own clinical placements and get them approved while doing the coursework. I would look into that if I were you.

One consideration I would keep in mind is that you may not be able to become an NP in some states if your initial training for an RN license is through Excelsior. As far as I am aware, you need to be able to be licensed in the state as an RN. You should research this carefully before you commit to a college to make sure you can transfer the credits to a different state.

I did LPN-RN via Excelsior and am now a CRNA. No issues.
