I believe you can register to take exams 1 and 2 without being enrolled in the college. You can download the studyguide for free on their website. The studyguide contains a complete listing of the books you will need to read and study from. You can purchase the books from any bookstore or you can order them from the Excelsior bookstore. If you are a LPN i think they waive one of those exams due to you already having a practical nurse license. Once you are enrolled into the program you study and then complete the rest of the exams needed to complete the program. Once all the exams are done you are then eligible to apply for the CPNE which is the clinical weekend that completes the nursing program. After successful completion of those stated previously( exams and CPNE) you are then eligible to apply for the state boards. Hope this helps. I'm enrolled in the old program but the new 1 only added 1 additional exam. The premise is the same though. Good Luck!!!!!!!

You need to register for an account on Excelsior's website, and you'll be assigned a student number at that time. When you are ready to test, you'll have to register for an account at the Pearson VUE website as well, and you'll use the student number assigned by Excelsior.

Many of your questions are answered on EC's website. I suggest you go here:

https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/Publications_Before_Login

Download the PDFs called "School of Nursing Catalog," "School of Nursing Viewbook," and "How much will your Excelsior College Associate Degree in Nursing cost?" Be sure to read all three carefully, particularly the portions that pertain to the ADN so that you will be fully aware of the program aspects -- costs, time limits, test attempt limits, that kind of thing. Good luck.

You can buy any books that you want to. Find out the recommended texts by looking at the list that is printed in the first study guide. You can download this at the publications page on the website. You can take the first two exams before enrolling, but will most likely be exempted from the second exam if you hold an LPN license. You have to be enrolled before you can register for the third exam. All of this is explained on the website. Good luck.
