Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I am currently enrolled at Suffolk Community College taking my last prerequisite which is AP1, yes I had to repeat this class to get a better grade. My question is do all colleges make you take an exam once you've been accepted to the nursing program? Hopefully, I will be able to apply to the nursing program upon completion of this class, but the nursing field is so competitive that I may not get accepted on the first try. I guess all I can do is hope and pray. I am so anxious to get there and it seem like its going to take forever, I don't have too much time to waste I am 37 with three kids.....

Not sure what you mean. Many nursing schools have entrance exams which, in part, decide if you get into the nursing program at all. When you do get into a nursing program, you will obviously have plenty of tests. Why not ask the nursing department where you want to attend what kind of test they require?

Yes, I guess I will call and inquire. I did go to the nursing seminar, and they did not speak of any entrance exams. I just noticed a lot of people on this forum talking about it, and I started to think about it.

And I am very aware of tests I will be given once I am in nursing school. I did not think I would be that lucky and not get any.

Most nursing programs require some sort of entrance exam you have to take before you are accepted. I had to take the TEAS V exam. But you should call the school and find out what exam it is if you have to take one.

Thank you, and I did contact the school and was told there were no pre nursing exams, however, you will be tested on dosage calculations.

I too, had to take the TEASV test before I could apply. My school does not require an additional test once a student is accepted.

I am 40 with 3 kids and two grands...so YOU CAN do this!

Good Luck!!

Lucretia37 .. which schools are you applying to for nursing?

I am currently attending Suffolk Community College. I am retaking A&P 1 over and then I will be able to apply. I work at a hospital and they offer a program where they will pay for schooling, and it's at the same school I am attending, just a different campus. I am already on the list at my job, but I think I am going to apply through my school as well.
