I would love some help/advice on my application essay.

Question: Why would I be a good candidate for the nurse education program.

(rough draft)
I feel I would be an excellent candidate for the XXXXX College Nurse Education program. I have worked in healthcare since 2004. I started working directly in patient care as a nursing technician in 2009 and made my way into the Emergency Department shortly after. My role in the Emergency Department, however vital, is a support role. After more than 10 years of hands-on experience I feel confident and ready to take the next step. I am dedicated, hardworking, organized, proficient at multitasking and prioritizing, and most importantly compassionate. I love my job and am confident I will excel in this nursing program due to my knowledge base, work and study habits, and drive.

Any/all advice is greatly appreciated (and needed ?)

I would think they will want more of a personal statement about what makes you unique. You need to make sure it does not read like a resume. Talk about your personal attributes, and perhaps how you overcame something big to show your drive, and why nursing is your passion. You should include briefly your medical experience but as one of the reasons you wish to go into nursing, not as the reason you're qualified for it.

You might seek out some school writing resources to review. Be sure all your sentences don't start with "I".

Good luck.

I really appreciate your reply! I will take this advice. Thanks.

There's nothing about how you enjoy providing info to pts/staff and/or demonstrating techniques, etc.

Where's your positive attributes for training or teaching?

That's what you have to emphasize for education.

At least that's my take for this application.
