ER nursing...

HI, I am a 3rd semester LPN student and I floated to the ER during clinicals yesterday. I really enjoyed it, and would love to find a job as a tech somewhere. I have PCT experience in the CVICU and MedSurg floor, but I am not an EMT, which is what most ER's require for PCT. Does anyone know from experience if ER's hire nursing students as PCTs in the ER?

It all depends on the hospital. Call or stop by some in your area and ask the HR or ER manager

Both of my facilities did. Senior nursing students were hired as techs. That's how I got into the ER. When I graduated my manager held one of her two new grad positions for me.

We have a few Techs that are nursing students. They're great! Just call around and you should be able to find a place that'll accept you.

Best of luck.

And yes, we have a few nurses that started out as techs for us, also great as RNs now!
