Epic credentialed trainers

Does anyone know what the salary for a nurse Epic credentialed trainer is lately (staff or contract) ? I also passed on an opportunity to do a six week training with no pay or guarantee of work after at a famous facility ? Was that a mistake ? How can I get on board with Epic with my clinical/epic end user background ? Thank you , please help.

Was this opportunity to be credentialed or certified? If it was for credentialing, you may have missed out if it was on a new version of the software. If it was for a certification, you missed out...big time!!! To get certified is the Holy Grail of all contractors/consultants. Epic used to have partnerships with some firms, where the consultant could go to Verona, WI, home of Epic, to obtain certification to make them more marketable for their firm. Epic has changed that so many times that it is extremely difficult to obtain a certification unless you are a FTE with a large healthcare system.

If you wish to get into the field on consulting, the best thing to do is to post your resume` on http://www.LinkedIn.com , specifying your clinical background and the module that you are credentialed in.

If you're on staff as a trainer, pay can be what your usual RN salary is, it might be bumped up a bit if you leave the bedside to do Informatics.

As a credentialed consultant, pay can range from 25-60/hr, depending on what the facility has budgeted for the project.

I'll pile on with EMRLPN....yes, you made a mistake. No matter what it was non paid with no guarantees, you could have put that training on your resume and then you could have gotten interviews out of that. Although I don't work with Epic, have met colleagues who got started that way. As they told me, they sacrificed pay and time to get started in the field and it paid off eventually.

On the positive side, you'll probably get another opportunity so next time you'll know what you have to do.
