Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!

I guess the ease of finding a job as a new RN grad depends on the region? I'm in the Balt/Wash metro region and found a job easily (had 2 offers 2 months before graduating). Also, depends on what type of nursing you are interested in. I will tell you that there are plenty of opportunites for night shift. Harder to find a day shift.

I got a job a month and a half after graduating. I applied to 20 or so positions and only recieved 3 interview calls. It all turned out well though. I got the job that I was most hoping for. It was in cardiology which I had some previous experience during my senior practicum (different hospital). I am so happy. My advice would be to pick your senior practucum to be in an area that you want to start out in. I am absolutley convinced that this experience led to me to be hired on my unit.

It all depends on the region in which you intend to work.

I am an LVN in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. I found a job approximately one day after receiving my temporary nursing license in the mail. Fortunately, I live and work in a metropolitan area that has an abundance of decently-paying jobs.

I accepted a position my last quarter of nursing school. Worked part time as a tech until I pass boards, then will slide into the nurse role. It was a goal of mine to have a job offer prior to graduation as I graduated in June with many other nursing students/schools in my area. It was a good thing I did. There is currently a shortage of new grad positions in this area. Some of my classmates have found it challenging to find their idea job. Good luck whatever you decide.

Well, I am in a smaller town about an hour away from FT. Worth and I am so scared it will take me a while to find what I want. I am graduating VN program in August. Do employers really hire you if you haven't had the experience. Like most jobs they say they want a certain amount of experience. The only experience I have besides nursing school is being a CNA for about a year.

I easily found my job because I have worked as a CNA there for 4 years, but a lot of my classmates are having trouble finding positions because there are not that many open positions in my area.

Our Nursing Leadership instructors told our class to apply LONG before graduation. It depends on your area of interest too. It seems that lots of new grad positions in speciality care areas are filled very early. I already had a job waiting on me, but many of my classmates didn't. All of them applied in Feb for jobs they were interested in....and we graduated in May.

Guess this all depends on your area. In the county I live in in northeastern PA, we have the "oldest" population in the state, so LTC jobs are always available. I had my first job before I graduated school, because they actively recruited us while we were IN school. The free lunches, pens, notepads, tote bags, umbrellas, etc, etc were really nice too. LOL

Dont come to Erie Pa. there are so many schools here that are cranking out nurses we are now in a situation that I never thought would happen.....very few jobs avaliable and way way way too many applicants for the few that are here. I picked this profession because I thoughtthere would be lots of opportunities but thing have changed radically in the last 2 years and not for the better. Im only glad that I have a job in the best hospital in town and I have no intentions of giving it up anytime soon....
