Emory Fall 09

Is anyone applying or have applied to Emory for the Fall 09 Semester. I have read in other threads from a couple of years ago that if you apply in November that you can here if you are accepted in January. Is that true? I have applied for the second degree program.

That's good to hear! I thought I was the only one checking OPUS several times a day! :chuckle Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Can you check your status onlinewith OPUS and Emory nursing? OPUS says no decision has been made yet.

I'm not sure whether they post their decision online or not but I keep checking it just the same.

Hi,

I was accepted for fall 09, but my decision was not online in OPUS, they just sent me a letter. Not sure if this helps.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the admission committee meets on Tuesday (I know this because I read it on the website), so if you all are in that batch of applications, you may know very soon :heartbeat.

OMG! I'm nervous now! When did you apply??!! Oh and CONGRATS!!!! :ancong!:

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find on the website where they meet on Tuesday but I'll take your word for it!

Hi guys,

I also applied in December, 2008 and waiting anxiously for an acceptance letter. My routine everyday is to check opus at lease 5 times a day. Even though I hear we might hear something by mid February, I can't help but to check OPUS everyday.

Good luck to you all.

For those who applied for the segue program, and if you applied in dec/jan, have you been contacted to schedule an interview for the msn portion yet? I submitted my app right around xmas and my last recommendation was submitted about a week before the deadline and I haven't heard anything from them yet. Should I be worried? If you already had an interview, how did it go? Thanks guys! Any updates?

From my understanding, you don't interview for the MSN portion until your senior year in the BSN portion. I think I remember the lady saying they had changed to this way at the Information Session in October 2008. So we're basically just waiting to see if we got into the BSN program right now. Anywho, what specialty did you choose to pursue? I want to be a Women's Health NP. Also did you take the GRE or the MAT and what did you think about it? I took the MAT and I didn't think it was too bad. I just wished I had time to take it again, but since I didn't, I just have to hope that my score was good enough! Well keep in touch and let us know if you have any updates!

LaBrittany

Thanks for that info LaBrittany! I wasn't aware that they weren't conducting interviews anymore for the MSN part until later. I was just going off of what was on the website and it still says that someone from the MSN faculty will contact you for an interview so I was freaking out a little. That's good to know tho haha.

I applied for the peds acute care np specialty. I took the GRE's. I scored decently (1320), but it was pretty much my math score that carried me thru. The verbal section of the GRE is KILLER. I didn't know any of the words in the antonym section. No joke, none. It's not like 'peripatetic' is part of my everyday vocabulary. Then again, I didn't do much studying for it. I only started studying about a month before and there's so many words in those prep books. How was the MAT? What kind of format is it?

Are you from the Atlanta area? Where did you go for undergrad and what was your degree in? I just graduated from UC San Diego in Dec w/ my BS in Bio, but my GPA was pretty mediocre so I'm hoping my GRE score will make up for it a bit. Anyway, good luck to all of us and let's keep updating if anything new comes up!

Yeah so I just went back and checked the application just to make sure and I found it: BSN/MSN Segue applicants must

"Undergo an interview conducted in the fall semester of the senior year of the BSN program, prior to the transition into the MSN program the following fall."

So there's no need to freak out just yet! lol

I passed the MAT, but I still don't know if it's good enough. lol I got a 415 and that put me in the 73rd percentile. I would have retaken it, but I didn't have enough time. The MAT is basically the verbal section of the GRE. There's 120 analogies (although 20 of them are experimental questions and do not count). The test is 60 minutes long. I studied with a prep book for about a month, but I just felt like it didn't help all that much. I felt like it tested me on everything I had ever learned in life! lol It wasn't bad though. I just overthought some of the questions and ended up running out of time, so I had to just bubble the last few in.

I'm from Shreveport, LA. (I'm sure you've never heard of it before. lol!!) However, I went to school in New Orleans. I just graduated from the University of New Orleans in December with a BS in Psychology. I feel like I have a pretty decent GPA (about a 3.5) and a 4.0 in my major. I did a lot of volunteer work and had a great internship so I'm hoping all of this is enough for me to earn a spot in the class!

Random sidenote: So I mailed off my application package during the last week of December. I called about a week and a half later just to be sure that they had gotten it, and the lady who I spoke with actually had my application in her hand! She was reading my LORs! I think I had a minor panic attack when she said that! lol

Anyway good luck everyone! I hope we all get in!
