I was wondering how many people have experience with the electronic ICU. We have had this for a short while at our hospital and for the most part I like it. I have used them for orders when interns aren't giving me what i need etc. However, recently we have had expereinces where multiple times a night they are camering into our rooms and not letting the nurses/doctors know when they are in the room. They sometimes "spy" on us, tell their manager what they see us doing, who then in turn tells our unit manager the 'wrong stuff' we are doing. They've been in rooms sometimes for 20 minutes and never let us know. Like I said I like the eicu and i use them for orders, and just another opinion but i'm starting to feel like "big brother" is looking over my shoulder and i have to constantly be aware of the camera and constantly check if it is on or off.

well i can say that as a relativly new icu nurse, it can be a great help, and also working nights, a great help. but i do understand about having someone "looking over your shoulder" as well. but that is all about the person behind the camera; they should be there to help you and not to "write you up" because that is not what it is all about. hope it gets better, and yes i can also say it is super annoying when they camera in and no dorbell sounds. just rude, imho :angryfire but keep working with it, just like anything else, the longer it is used, the better it will get and the more it will be utilized for the correct reasons! :)
