Eglin AFB

Published

Finally I got a call today about my assignment. I will be going to COT in January and my first assignment is Eglin AFB.

Is anybody else going that way? I am very excited and nervous at the same time.

Congrats!! I grew up in that area-actually born on that base. You'll love the beaches. I'm not in the AF but trying to join Navy Reserves. If you have any specific questions about the area, I will try my best to answer.

Enjoy!!

Thanks for the reply. Right now I am researching schools and housing. I'll be there probably in May, but I like to pe prepared somewhat. I am in Georgia right now, I will take a weekend off and go and see the area.

Congrat~!

Did you put eglin as one of your preference?

I looked up that area, seems very nice!

Good luck!

Eglin was my first choice and I am very happy that I got it. I just found out that I should be comissioning in a week or two. Now its really starting to hit me. It has been a long process and now all the sudden everything is falling in place.

Congratulations! I am happy to see you got your first choice. I am hoping to get one of my top three (Travis, Eglin, Langley). Were you part of the May selection board? Also, how long from the time of the board until you got word you were selected? Thanks!

My application went to the January board. The recruiter told me that some info was missing, so I would have to apply again in October. I was dissappointed, but I told myself if I have to wait I just keep myself busy. I got a call in Feb. that I was selected. I was shocked, so was my recruiter. In March I had my acceptance letter, now just waiting for comissioning and I leave for COT in January. I started the process in Aug. 2009 and by the time I leave it is a year and a half. So, this is a long process and never know what to expect. To me its worth the wait because I wanted to do this for a long time.

Thanks for sharing your timeline. I had no idea when I started the application process that it would take so long. I am thankful I have a good job in the meantime! Congratulations again.

Just found out today that I will be comissioning tomorrow. I don't think I can sleep tonight....lol I have been waiting so long, now its finally happening.
